Vista - Problem/s

I have Vista Home Premium Edition, and when i try to open a .mpg link in the IE browser, nothing happens ie the vid clip doesn't open.

All i get is" Internet Exploerer cannot open webpage"

I've tried looking in Internet options and Media player settings to no avail.

Can anyone help please?:hatsoff:
