2) Where do i mention that Putin is absolutely not connected with any of the journalists deaths.

Now, since i just mentioned Politkovskaya and i simply contested the sentence absolutely sure about Putin being behind her *******, you can, please, gently go fuck yourself.

About my backyard in Spain, i'm real glad that over here neither hundreds of journalists get ******, nor Spanish citizens are ****** in Spanish soil by drones remotely controlled by the Prime Minister. Now, the second is an absolute fact happening in your backyard, that's for sure.

Let me just skip this whole thread about Russia to talk about the UK for a moment...

I'm disappointed in the election results. There seemed to be some real momentum for change (I say this not having lived in the UK for almost three years now, so my perspective here is unfortunately purely media-filtered) - I would've loved to see Greens grow substantially and even UKIP actually take a few seats from the Tories. Not because I like UKIP - because I don't, at all, and I wouldn't want them to pick up any significant number of seats where they had any power - but because that sort of message is the only meaningful one voters can send to the establishment powers. Anything else just means 'carry on'.

Alas, instead they've opted for business as usual. The richer get richer, governments grow fatter, everybody else gets screwed just a little more day by day. It's a shame I've been outside of the country too long to vote.

Actually, part of the process is to make the government slimmer as they have done over the past 5 years.
The UK is now one of the fastest growing economies in the world. There have been more new jobs created in the UK (1.9million) than the rest of the EU put together.
No one likes cuts but the welfare budget had been growing uninhibited under the previous labour government and had to be reigned in.
Labour spent and borrowed too much. We are still spending and borrowing too much but at least it is being brought under control.

People who are working pay taxes (unless they are not earning enough to pay tax) people on welfare do not pay taxes and and are paid for by those paying taxes. Therefore if you have more people working, there is more tax revenue and less being paid out.
No other party had a decent plan for continuing to grow the economy and get people working.
I was watching Nicola Sturgeon (the leader of the Scottish National Party) yesterday morning on the Andrew Marr show. Her idea of stimulating the economy was to raise business taxation, raise welfare payments and raise the minimum wage. In what possible way would that stimulate the economy? Personally, I see a bit of a flaw in that logic, in that if you raise business taxes, businesses will have less money to pay for employees and will have a harder time growing and those taxes raised will be given to people who are not working.

I'm not actually that right wing, I just want to see the country healthy and able to support those in our society that cannot support themselves through no fault of their own.
There are certain areas where there must categorically not be any cuts and in fact should have more funds - NHS and Education being at the forefront of this but even these must be fiscally responsible.

If you're a Republican in the U.S, you'd vote for the Conservative party in the U.K. The two parties are very similar, they're both conservative. The one big difference between the two is that the Conservatives support gay marriage while the Republicans don't. Cameron was bold to come out in support of gay marriage saying "so I support gay marriage because I am a Conservative." Never in a million years could I see Boehner or McConnell making that statement

I don't believe Putin had anything to do with the death of Politkovskaya but a lot of ppl around the world do.

Sources man, sources. I've long since stopped taking anything in a forum at face value. The numbers I've seen (and admittedly I didn't look long or hard) don't show the UK doing anything special that most of northern Europe isn't also doing post-worldwide recession. Even that jobs number looked very different when shown per capita.

Was it really 'no other party', or just not Labor? I'd buy the latter. The former is a tougher sell.

It was an amazing breath of fresh air to vote in an election (UK 2010) where religion wasn't *****-holding everything. It didn't even come up. I'd like to say that while the Tories are to the right like Republicans, they're less authoritarian, but just because they're less so where religion is concerned doesn't mean they aren't plenty elsewhere.
