I haven't watched much of the HBO series True Blood lately but I just caught the end of the most recent episode. Anna Paquin had what I considered a super softcore sex scene. The only thing that was missing was the shot of penetration. Why is this stuff taken seriously but porn is still considered a joke?

Oh I agree it was hot. I think it is the most erotic thing I've seen her do. I'm just disgusted by the obvious double standard. Anna Paquin is taken seriously but a porn chick is not.
Disgusted?!? There is a world of difference between a simulated sex scene in a tv show/movie & hardcore porn. Why are you disgusted? Why is there this trend for acceptability of porn, for it to be mainstream? There is no "obvious double standard" as you put it. :dunno:

Because mainstream tv-shows and movies are an artform made to tell some sort of story and make the viewer feel some sort of emotion. Porn is just people fucking in front of a camera and usually have no artistic "value" whatsoever. The few times a porn director have something interesting to say with his movie it´s usually completely ruined by bad acting which makes the whole thing impossible to take seriously.

Man you just ignore that stuff.....Sort of coming in on season 2 and you can blame sociologists for it as they been saying for years that more of that sort of thing has to be portrayed in the media so its becomes kinda normal or standardized hence people won't have adverse reactions to it forming hate groups and generally despising homosexuality. I just skip past that stuff lulz....And not let it detract from the story not that it does or that I am anti....I just find the scenes a bit squeamish to watch.
Oh yea before boothbabe or someone comes on to lay the smackdown I would just point out I dont criticise any people's sexual pratices(provided it is law abiding)

Well considering the guy who is the head writer for the show is gay I can say the homo erotic overtones are pretty clear...Besides it gives me something to watch until The Walking Dead premires on AMC...Now zombies they know no love, they just want to eat.

There is a clear double standard and it troubles me that you can't see it. Obviously simulated sex scenes and hardcore sex scenes differ. But they don't differ that much. The only difference between softcore and hardcore is one extra camera angle.

Well most hetero men have a problem watching men in each other's faces and drooling over each other. And before ninnies march down on my IP address saying shit like it makes me question myself blah blah blah...It doesn't. The shit is repulsive for me to look at...I am no more curious about that than I would be curious about watching a compound fracture happen.
