Tom Cruise says he is going to reprise his role of Top Gun

Maverick will of course be an Instructor since that was one of his options at the end of the original. And since by now Maverick is in the age range that Viper was back then. And probably at Tom Cruise's insistence, it'll now be Maverick who will be introduced to the new class as, "You will not find a better Jet Fighter Pilot / Naval Aviator in the entire world."

Maybe the new envelope-pushing, ego check-writing, tower-buzzing Hot Shot will be Goose's son. :yesyes:

AND of course, there will have to be the requisite sudden military incident somewhere where the new class graduates get called to in the middle of their graduation celebration party.

I don't know. This is a very risky venture. Oh sure, it could very well break the record for 1st weekend viewers just because the curiosity will of course be there. But, it is going to be next to impossible to remotely equal the success of the original, much less surpass it. It really stands more of a chance of not being done right and crashing and burning after 1 to 4 weeks once the word of mouth gets out that it sucks. They'll probably be hoping, depending on that just the mere presence of Tom Cruise reprising his role of Maverick will guarantee success.

They waited too long to do this. Now they can't remotely harness the original essence of all the characters still at their prime. Who knows? Maybe it'll go straight to video. :dunno: :1orglaugh

Why do people not make their own films anymore? Rehash, reboot, reblah.

That film is one of the most re-screened movie ever, I've never seen it and the same applies to the part 2.
