To hell with China.

Not to take anything away from the people and rich culture of China, but their government and leaders have been an atrocity decades.

Unfortunately, China can get the rest of the world by the balls whenever they want because of two things : 1) most of the world's largest corporations have factories in China and 2) the chinese market is so important for these corporations that they and the governments of their respective contries would do anything to gain/not to lose access to that market

Oh, you're not very pleased with us ? Well, I'm afraid we won't gonna buy those fighter-jets and that plant you'd like to get in our country, well, I fear you're gonna have to wait a little longer before we answer you wether we agree or not...

It may be that if the food runs out, the Chinese will eat all white-skinned people. :/

Of course, it will cost us a lot, but we need to start acting like we actually mean what we say.

China has to be completely cut off, and chinese investors need to completely be shunned.

Yes, a lot of cheap products will cost more, but of we produce our smartphones, computers, clothes here, longterm our workers will have more work

The world needs to put China in its place.
They are not above the law and have become a threat to decency/freedom everywhere.

I agree with all of that. But "the world" is fragmented and many countries benefit from engagement with the Chinese. They don't care that the communists trample on people's rights and murder those who oppose them, or that China is one of the biggest polluters in the world. And even those that don't care to engage with China (which is rare), what with China now being the world's second largest economy, they have no real power to pin their ears back. Not now anyway. You can't rattle an economy that size without also tanking your own economy. Welcome to globalization, friends.

Today is one of the few times that I can applaud our Congress and Senate for working together on something, and I applaud Trump for signing the bill which supports the democracy protesters in Hong Kong. Good on all of them for this one. Ironic that this is Thanksgiving in the U.S., while it's the young freedom fighters in Hong Kong who have something to really be thankful for.

P.S. I wonder what Adam "Honest, I ain't gay" Silver, Lebron James and all those other "woke" athletes think about the U.S. position on Hong Kong today? Buncha money chasing fakes.

Greed will be the death of us.

I figure that's right. :yesyes: But, it's the nature of our kind. From the Romans to now, our basic nature hasn't really changed, has it?

South Park recently did an episode about how everybody (especially media) kisses China's ass.
Apparently this affects the arts, film and music, because they want to market their wares to China but in order to do so they must pass the China Censorship Police......which is not an easy thing.

To this aspect I say fuck China. However due to basic greed aka maximum profit it seems the entire world is subject to what China deems as acceptable which in turn affects our entire culture.

Good post. And funny pic. :D

Having (basically) one guy in charge and calling the shots probably does work better than having a bunch of people chiming in and making decisions by committee... assuming that one guy isn't a nutcase. And by "better", I mean that it's a better way of keeping the trains running on time (if you know where I'm coming from ;)). They've got one party and everyone has to at least *pretend* to be all in - or else! Or else what? You get "re-educated". And there's the rub. If you see things differently, you're in for a bad time (at best) under their system. Here's what I've found really fascinating over the past few months. You have these college kids in Hong Kong who are fighting for basic democratic rights. Things as basic as freedom of speech and expression, and the right to assemble. While in the U.S., we have college kids who are seeking to restrict the very same rights, simply because they're opposed to anyone saying anything that they don't agree with. I mean, that drives them completely batshit crazy. Man, even at my old school, these talking babies are having complete meltdowns over most anything that violates their PC playbook. Things are just so different now compared to when I was in school. One of my favorite parts of college was debating with people who had views different from my own. It wasn't about yelling, screaming or crying like now. You were expected to be able to express yourself with rational logic to really make your point. Now they just yell, scream and cry and call people sexist, racist or some kind of "phobe"... and then they'll call the police saying that they don't "feel safe". I'm simply amazed at how weak and fragile these lil sheeple are. And it makes me sort of sad to see the media and pop culture bowing down to their safe space demands. It does not bode well for the future, IMO.

I'd be all for giving refugee status or visas to any kid who's trying to escape oppression in Hong Kong... and sending an equal number of snowflakes and SJWs to China in return. Yeah, I think those freedom loving Chinese kids in Hong Kong, risking their lives every day, would make great Americans - and we need some of those about now.
