Tim Hortons IPO

As you may or may not know, Tim Hortons is pricing their IPO on Thursday and actually offering it on Friday. So do you have any opinions on the IPO or Tim Hortons in general? Do you think it will go the way of Chipotle and double...or do you think it will sink due to unsure risks of competition and expansion in the U.S.? I'd love to hear any opinions or predictions. :2 cents:

Well being Canadian...Tim Hortons is HUGE here in Canada...I'd love to see what the stocks open value with be and what the value will be in 2 weeks....I ***** Tim Hortons everyday and...FYI....Tim Hortons is a coffee franchise....

I really hope Tim's stays here only. I know how that sounds. They're opeining one in Afghanistan for our troops and that's really cool.

Anywhere you go in the world you can find a McDonald's, a Dunkin' Donuts, KFC. Tim's is great but I fear it would just be another coffee shop to others while it's special to us. Only in Canada can you find a Tim's. I may be wrong though, that happens a lot.

Ironically enough, Houston will be gaining several Tim Hortons here in the next few months while Krispy Kreme has been and will be continuing to exit the regional market, yet, Shipley's Doughnuts as well as Dunkin' Doughnuts are firmly entrenched in the region.

I'm looking forward to frequenting their shops ... heard a lot of good things about Hortons.

I've never had Hortons' food - I've heard good reviews from friends, but I'm not a breakfast restaurant kinda guy - except for Waffle House...they RULE. :nanner: lol

Funny ... you wouldn't think so after coming down South, bro. It seems like every single Waffle House I have ever been to - and you know how often I've traveled - has been virtually the same:

Roach-infested, greasy-spoon-type diner;
Drunks hanging over the counter;
A fat fry cook in a filthy, stained white t-shirt with a CAT cap on his head;
A cloned copy of Tammy Faye Bakker; replete with clownish make-up, as a waitress;
and a slack-jawed, drooling bus-boy who has the intellect and limited comprehension abilties of the permanently ********.

Truth be told, I like Shoney's and a regional Southern chain called Cracker Barrel. They originated somewhere up close to you, I believe, 'Fly. Either in Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina ... don't remember which state. Now THEY have some damned good food.

During the winters here Tim's has a soup in a bread bowl. The bowl is bread. In the commercial, someones asks a guy at work " What did you have for lunch?"
He replies " I had a bowl of soup......and THEN I ATE THE BOWL !!!"
Great soup too !

MOST of the Waffle House restaurants I've been to have been in Atlanta, Axxxchick. That's "down South." lol They vary in quality depending on which area of town you're in, but I love them. They can be a dirty, greasy, nasty truck drivers' haven or they can be clean and well-maintained and run. It depends on whether they're near a major highway or in suburbia.

I won't and don't patronize Cracker Barrel - they've been sued (and lost) far too many lawsuits for discrimination against black people, as has "Denny's" restaurants.

Shoney's is o.k. You might know Stuckey's restaurants also. They're all over the place, usually off highways as well, and they're decent, from my recollection, but it's been a lllloooooonnnnnngggg time since I've been in one. lol

Chipotle restaurants and Donato's pizza restaurants are owned by McDonald's, by the way, alexio hellas, just as Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell are all owned by Pepsi. It's scary how big corps. own so many sub-companies...

You didn't SPECIFY as to geographic locations and regions of said Waffle House, genius, so how in the hell was I supposed to know WHERE you dined??? DUHHHH. The DO exist nation-wide, 'Fly-boy, so get the righteous stick out of your butt. :D LMGDFAO

Anyway, you might want to reconsider patronizing Waffle House as well as they have been sued for discriminatory actions as well, not to mention the fact that they have been involved in countless labor disputes and arbitrations AND have one of the worst State Board of Health inspection records in the nation.

Now, shall we continue discussing the merits of Waffle House versus Cracker Barrel, dear 'Fly? You do realize I'm just as 'in-the-trenches' with this kind of information as you are, right? :D :thumbsup:

Oh, and one more pertinent fact about Waffle House: 90% of all corporate stores (yes, there are franchises) are located only in the vicinity of a major interstate or highway; very seldom will you see one parked in "suburbia".

Besides, I wanna get back to discussing Tim Hortons ... not this mediocre, trite crap.

WRONG. Do it again!!!

If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding. You can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat!!!

You Might want to refresh your memory on who owns what, Nightfly.

> Pepsico International

> Pepsico Brands And Companies

Pepsico owns the following:

> Frito-Lay Brands;
> Pepsi-Cola Brands;
> Gatorade Brands;
> Tropicana Brands;
and
> Quaker Brands

They do NOT own Taco Bell, KFC, Long John Silver's, or Chipotle. Chipotle, Boston Market, and Donato's are all owned by McDonald's Corporation. The others are owned by YUM! Brands, Inc. And no, 'Fly, contrary to what You MiGHT try to say as a rebuttal, none of the corporations are linked. They are completely separate corporate entities. I checked ... and double-checked.

> YUM! Brands, Inc.

> YUM! Brands, Inc. Companies

Also, check here next time for who owns what:

> Who Owns That Burger?

Thank you ... Thank you very much. :hatsoff:
