The other day someone was sifting through my LP collection and eventually came across several cover artworks that freaked the living shit out of this person. Then quite a heated argument ensued on how far people can or should go to shock or draw controversy from their artificial expressions. Well, to cut a long story short, afterwards I thought about the most shocking album covers I know, but maybe there are even more out there.
Anyhow, sure enough I am the proud owner of the following long playing records:

The cover shows Per Yngve Ohlin, alias Dead, Swedish vocalist of Norwegian band MAYHEM. The photo was actually taken by MAYHEM's mastermind Øystein Aarseth, alias Euronymous (who was stabbed to death two years later).

In regard to the stuff depticting blood and gore and actual death, this might not seem as shocking, but back in 1993 a this was just as insane. The photo shows the burnt down remains of Fantoft Stave Church.

Like you wouldn't believe, this is the actual cover that started this whole conversation I had the other day. I don't think the reason was the parody of The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper..." album, but the people MACABRE chose to put on this one. Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacey, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, basically the who is who of the scum of this earth.

This (CARCASS, Reek Of Putrefaction) is actually one of the two covers that really turn my stomach upside down (the other being Symphonies Of Sickness, also by CARCASS).
