The Pitfalls of Voice-Chat

Well, I been into 'playing' or whatever term is best used for Second Life (Linden Labs) since 5 months or so and since a couple of weeks I been in some groups and ares that strongly encourage or demand voice chat over text chat.

That is a very good thing and it makes the experience so much more personal - but some times a little TOO much personal.

Here's the catch:

Say, you are hanging out with a nice woman with that south-state accent, and have a laugh, flirt a bit, whatever. Suddenly there is that ringtone and she says, oh, be right back, got to catch a call. She lays her headset on the table, and then she takes the call.

But she ain't switching off the mike ...

So you sit there and listen to her yelling at her ex about the car keys and he's not bringing back the kids at the right time etc. pp...

I refrain from telling them about that because they usually really think I am rude or what instead thinking a bout this next time - which they won't, in most cases.

Goes for Game-Voice-Chat, too.

So guys: Switch off the mike or pull that little plug out while taking that call or while your kids come to your table and want to discuss things.

By the way: Anyone else in SL, write me a PM I am eager to get to know you :) - especially OCSMs of course :glugglug:
