Why the fuck would Frodo be in the movie when he's not in the book? Bilbo's journey happened a long time before Frodo was born. Fuck you, Peter Jackson! :thefinger

By the way, I used to go by Thorin Oakenshield on another forum. ;)

THIS.
I remember when the LOTR movies first came out, I was aggitated because the hobbits were so PRETTY-IZED.
Uhm... hello? Tiny hairy men who have huge shoe-like-feet? :brick:
But they had to cast pretty boys to attract kids into coming to see it to make more money.

Now the hobbit is coming in, and they want their two main pretty boys added back into the movie, that being elijah wood (Frodo) and Orlando Bloom (legolas). And what for? To make sure fan-girls of these two attractive males will spend endless amounts of money JUST to see the cameo appearances of the two. Needless to say, I was seething when I found this out... It's ridiculous. Please stop ruining one of my favorite fandoms.

The only good thing about this is more Ian McKellen as Gandalf. I can't picture any other actor as Gandalf. *insert fan-girling here*

I love the books. Amazingly good! After you read those you need to check out The Silmarillion, it is the equivalent to the bible for Middle Earth. I wish they'd make a mini-series out of the stories in that book. The Tale of Beren and Luthien is amazingly good (It's also what leads to the creation of the Numenorians, the race that Aragorn is)... whoops, my nerdness just pooped out.

Anyways, yes, Frodo is in The Hobbit as is Aragorn and others that aren't in the books but from what I hear, they are very minor roles.

Just don't expect anything to stand out with The Hobbit book, it was definitely a children's book

I agree, they're the best series of books. I was lucky that when I was a kid a teacher began reading us The Hobbit in class, from then on I was hooked.

p.s. My favourite parts in The Silmarillion are, The Fall of Fingolfin and The Nirnaeth Arnoediad- The Battle of Unnumbered Tears

Sure, Legolas wasn't actually in the book, but it actually makes for him being in it, especially during The Battle of The Armies. He's a Wood-Elf afterall. I'm a little surprised about Frodo, and the pretty-izing of some of the 13 Dwarves, Kili for an example.

The Silmarillion = Greatest book I've ever read. I'd also recommend The Lost Tales, Unfinished Tales and The Children of Húrin.

They are not ruining anything. The books still exist, intact as fans remember them. All adaptations make changes. It is impossible to completely please all fans when a book becomes a film.

Thumb Rule for Book Afficionados:

Do not watch the movie :2 cents:
