The boringness and negativity of television series

Is is my imagination or are (most) TV series becoming more boring and negative over the last ten years?

If I remember shows from the 80's till the end of the 90's, like Star Trek, Alf, Friends, Airwolf, A-team, Miami vice, 21 Jumpstreet, etcetera, in comparrison to Lost, Heroes, Trueblood, CSI, I noticed that a lot the characters from the series of the last ten years are much more close to having a burnout or something....There's a negative vibe everywhere...

Already from the beginning of Friends till it's end it is quite noticable that the six main friends start of are rested people in a busy life and end up with noisy boring characters who are burned out. Remember Monica Gellar starting a nice woman ending up as a screamer?

Also comparing the 80's and 90's to the 60's and the 70's it's also noticable that the 80's and 90's were closer to burnout.

I am trying to find out a nice TV show to follow which is not older than 5 years, and all I find is crap: mostly because the main characters always suck. They always have problems; no money, no love, no fun. Why call soaps series...eh...soap series if all other series become soaps too?

I think I am going to watch Star Trek Enterprise, that crew really comes close to some positive vibes...
