I choose Part VII, although I've never played the "Platinum" edition. May I ask what was the differences ?

I can't remember the ones I rented in the earily and mid '90s for my trusty NES (or Regular Nintendo as we called it in my house), because of the long years, but I loved owning Final Fantasy 7 and 9 for the Playstation. Loved all the full motion sequences in 9, inparticular ...

How is Final Fantasy 6 not on there? That one was great. As Far as the early ones being crappy, thats only in comparision to the ones we have today. For instance, compare FF1 to Dragon Warrior and you'll get the idea.

FFVII is the best. I'm sure it's the game that got most of us into the FF series.

I have to second what Atlas said about XII, I'm halfway through and I'm highly impressed so far. Great game.

Final Fantasy 6 and the original Tactics (not the childish advance ones) are the best games in the FF franchise. The series has really gone downhill since Enix and Square merged.

I liked VII the best followed closely by XII and IV.
I personally thought IX was one of the worst in the series, (though I'm not saying it's a bad game.) I just didn't like it as much compared to the other Final Fantasy games.
