So, basically what it comes down to is "DON'T STEAL COPYRIGHTED MEDIA".
If you don't steal the stuff, then your name should not be amongst the details stolen from ACS.
There is plenty of free porn available legally. I know that there are people who rip off entire websites and then share or even sell the content as if it were their own, selling memberships to copied sites. These people should be named and shamed.
The problem with 4chan is that the evidence being stored by ACS has now been compromised, which may well mean the information cannot be used to prosecute. The question is - what were the 4chan users trying to do?

I am totally against the theft of pornographic material. However, should not punish the person who downloaded the file from some free site without knowing if the material is illegal or not. It should punish those who illegally distribute this material (free or not free).
Sometimes it's not easy to know if the free material is legal or illegal, because there are free porn sites for advertising.

You cannot mess with 4chan, period. There are hackers and other types on there that have the ability to ruin your lives. There is a group (I will not name them, we know who they are), that see themselves as revolutionaries or maybe anarchists, and sometimes they do some good (ie. spamming the inventor of spam, finding that girl who threw the puppies in the river, etc.). But piss them off and they will exploit the weakness of the information age. Bottom line, leave the internet alone.

Prosecuting due to illegal downloads is dumb. Where would you file the case? No court has jurisdiction over the internet since jurisdiction is bound by territoriality. Does the internet have territorial bounds? Not unless a treaty is signed by all nations, prosecuting illegal downloads would be a futile exercise.
Making the hackers angry and pissed off at you is also bad for business. These people are relentless. That law firm will definitely get sued for failure to keep their records confidential and protected.
