Applebee's is so bad I decided to have Chinese Food in El Paso, Texas instead. The Chinese place was rated higher at 2 stars.
Now a days, if you want a good meal, and better service, it's going to cost you, and you aren't going to get it from a chain. If you want atmosphere, it's gonna cost more.
I've never been to Chili's either. For breakfast, I can't pass up Bob Evans. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the best as far as I'm concerned. The one chain place I like is Chili's but mainly for the appetizers. I always start with a Bowl of Chili and Boneless Buffalo Wings. Those have been consistently good for me then for an entree I go with some sorta burger. I remember being in Tucson and seeing a Chili's there pulled my truck into the lot like it was magnetized.
I like Waffle House for Breakfast especially their Breakfast Sandwich.

Chili's has good baby back ribs. The .. original sauce, which is pepper-based, yum!! With a half ear of corn, and fries.
If she had a fella take her to Olive Garden, she should find a new fella that knows what good Italian food is.
Ughh I got sick from Chili's back in October of last year!! The pasta made me throw up , pretty gross!! Really bad stomach problems. I guess a bad cook or food.I had a guy take me there once on a date. Never again. Well, he wasn't so bad, but the Applebees was just icky. The food took forever to get there, the service was slow and awful for the amount of people who were dining, which weren't that many, and the bathroom looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in months.
I do like Chilis though, and Olive Garden.
There are more then one chain restaurant that's really good for nothing more then booze and appetizers. Maybe a burger at most. Hell, I've been to steak houses, that you couldn't get a good steak at.As long as you have low expectations going in and order mostly from the appetizer menu, Applebee's isn't horrible.

I don't know if those were ever out here in Ohio. We have a place called "Harry's", that's decent. And "Outback", and "Long Horn". All of them are chain type, mediocre places. To me, and I speak only for my tastes, they aren't bad, and you'll drop $100 for the wife and yourself, but if you want a really good steak, I mean the kind of steak that melts in your mouth, you're looking at about $250, and they're all a la cart. We have a couple really nice places around here. "The Hyde Park Grill", and "Milton's" are at the top, and Bernie Kosar, the former Browns QB has a steak house in one of the casino's. His place is high end, but supposed to be good.Golden Corral has the best steak in my town, if that says anything.
