Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!
Congrats to Team USA Basketball on winning the gold medal game and punching their automatic berth to the 2012 Olympics with an 81-64 victory over Turkey. Turkey put up one hell of a fight, but Team USA was just simply the more talented team at the end.

Kevin Durant should be a lock for that 2012 squad after his impressive performance throughout this tournament.

Congrats to Team USA!

Congrats to the US Team, playing a final vs Turkey in Istanbul, not a piece of cake but they made it !
USA are the one team wich didn't loose one game for the whole competition.

Was this ever really in question? The last two championships, (this and Olympics) USA has put emphasis on building a team with a good coach instead of throwing a bunch of all stars together and letting them play. And they destroyed everybody.

Can another country's team beat the U.S.A's best players? Yup.

Can another country's team beat the U.S.A's best team? Not even close.

Yes, yes it was. With people consistently calling them our "B" team, a lot of people thought that they lacked what it took to get the job done.

Two words: Kevin Durant. That guy was just unstoppable. Have to give the whole team credit really. First off, they were a very young team with little to no FIBA experience. Also, USA teams don't get the luxury of playing with each other for years and years. Only a few weeks in which they have to adjust their style of play with people they are used to playing against. Lets not forget that they have to get used to doing all of this while playing by a completely alien rule set. Just impressive.

Exactly right.

And btw, y'all yawning, but this is the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. I'm willing to bet that it's much more important to just about all the other countries than the Olympic tournament.

I don't understand why there's not a full time coach, that evaluates players in-season (even the Americans overseas) as well as opponents. And that guy coaches the Senior team as well as some of the Youth teams.

U.S.A's B team is still lightyears beyond any other countries A team. And people only thought they lacked what it took because of the joke teams that were thrown together in years prior. Any sane basketball fan knows a well built and well coached U.S team is a shoe in for Gold medals. There really is no contest.

I'm Canadian by the way, and I have no American macho pride here. I'm just stating facts.
