It's like committing acts of vandalism on the Titanic -- i.e., this is no time to be spiteful because the economy's taking on water and there's no lifeboats.
Nearly all politicians and politicial ideologues are dirtbags. And let's face it, the left-winger Dems aren't innocent either. They install expensive and redundant social programs to "help" the poor masses because they are trying to leverage their support at election time,
not because they are necessarily benevolent and care about the people's suffering. The left successfully sets itself up as the champion of the people by giving "handouts" to the poor instead of helping them stand on their own. I'm sorry, but 99 weeks of unemployment is bilking the system. There ARE jobs out there, unfortunately, they are less than ideal ones. Remember all those jobs that illegals do because Americans supposedly "don't want them?" Well, I bet they want them now. I would (see below).
I've been unemployed -- back when it only lasted 22 weeks -- so I know what it's like. I couldn't get a new job fast enough. The idea of being on the government dole, and that 22 weeks isn't very much time, got me VERY motivated to get a new job. Trust me, I would rather dig ditches or pick apples or clean hotel rooms than collect a government check. Government help should be
temporary in nature. But the politicians, willfully or not, use that aid as a yoke to keep people tethered to the system. The people, in turn, begin to rely on that help and look on anyone who would end it as "evil." Once people are dependent on the government for income, housing, food stamps, etc., they surrender their freedom and don't even realize it. That's not the Land of Opportunity, that's the Land of Serfdom. :2 cents:
