Tatto question

Maybe it is me, but everyone seems to have some type of tatto these days. I personally regard them as very ugly. Why does someone want to place a permanent "Harley Davidson" or cat or some other shallow markings on their bodies. Just wondering about your opinions. Thanks

Tattoos are certainly very popular today, and I really don't have an opinion one way or the other. People are going to do things like that for whatever reason they find fit.

I have several tattoos, and I think they are a good way for one to show who they are. You learn a suprising amount from seeing a Batman logo on a guy's hand. (For instance: He likes Batman)

Though, when it comes to the people who have them all the way down their arms and such, I agree with you. I don't get that.

I'm with Plasma... I like tattoos, but not the full sleeves that some people have.

I don't have any Tattoos but I don't fault people who do I just hate when they cover there whole body with them.

having a tattoo is something you decide for yourself. I always wanted to have a tattoo and when I was in my early 20 ,after a lot of thinking, because most of the people don't like tattoos. Don't worry, i also don't like it when it is in their face, but when I was in Phillippines I could meat a few people from the Yakuza. They can still cover it and go out in style with a costume, and those drawings really represent what they stand for.
As far as for me, I have tattoos that nobody else can have, i have unique ones, faces of excisting people. I'm not into the fashion of having Tribes (some are really beautiful, but mostly people have them to show of) ["look I have a tattoo, shows tribal on shoulder and/or foot"]. Now it can be very well that you kinda like that, but then You Mis the point of tattoos, it's a thing that makes you unique to other peoples. Agreed, with Harleys and skulls and bulldogs, you also show that you are a bad guy, but does it make you unique ?
Nah, everybody can have one like that.
If you put on a tattoo just to fit in, please don't ... Think about it, it stays on for the rest of your lives, and yes removing it shows ... Think (for once) before you act. I can't say it enough to other peoples, even though i really like tattoos. Even my kids talk about having tattoos, they see me and some of my friends also have, but i don't allow them before they thought well about it. You'll know when they remove them this was just a thing to blend in a group. just my :2 cents:

People can do whatever thay want with their bodies. I don´t give a crap if someone gets a tattoo because it has some deep meaning to them or just because they think it looks cool (but i agree that ít´s a good idea to really think it through before getting one done). And yes, i got a tattoo and no it has no deep meaning whatsoever.

I think tattoos are pretty cool. For awhile there were two fairly large ones that I wanted to get on my arms. But I just never seem to have to money to blow on something like that.

As for women, I don't like pornstars or models to have tattoos, except maybe just small ones. But in real life, I like a girl with a few tattoos.

I always wanted a tatoo when I was younger, but now I think nah.
Same with me.

It's a personal decision for each individual.
Some of them are nice, but I hate the tattoos that are placed in the face.

I hope that guy isn't ever worried about being taken seriously.

Actually, if they were, like a lot of things, done in moderation, it would have been ok when the fad started. But like lots of other things, people take it and just run with it. I think Julia Bond's huge angel wings on her back look ridiculous, but I always like Jenna Jameson's little "heartbreaker" tattoo.

I have a tattoo saying No Regrets written down my ribcage. I got that for a reason and I'm still glad I did it.

When I see a girl with some tribal on her back I think it looks so lame and generic, no thought put into it and totally unoriginal.

I'm not a fan of girls have have a couple of little tattoos placed around the body, but I'm a sucker for full sleeves on a girl.

this has been said before. I tried to argue for the cultural history of the tattoo, but I don't really care anymore.

if you want to get a tweedy bird, that's cool. go for it.

If you want to get something thoughtful that is well done, then I think that would be great.

If you don't want to get any tattoos, I can understand.

But I think that it's lame to hold it against other people that have them. it's just a design on some skin, what's the big deal?

a lot of people have this stigma. many companies won't hire people or they will make them cover up their tattoos, that is a discrimination against their personal choice that doesn't effect their ability or job performance at all, but it's perfectly legal.

I've been into tattoos ever since I can remember. I have a full sleeve on my left arm and my entire lower right leg is sleeved up below the knee.

I don't regret any of it as they are well done and they suit me very well. At this point, I'd feel wierd if I didn't have them.

My advice for anyone considering getting work done is that you do plenty of research before you settle in on whatever artist you want to work on you. He/she should have an extensive portfolio that shows off the amount of experience and skill they possess.

Big names like Jose Lopez, Mr. Cartoon, Guy Aitchison, Bob Tyrrell, etc. are hard to land. They have client lists a mile long and you will have to wait a loooong time for them to fit you in (maybe even a year or more). They are usually not realistic options. Plus they are crazy expensive. Like $1000 an hour minimum.

This does not mean you can't get equally good work done elsewhere.

I won't post pics of my tattoos because of anonymity issues. But, here are some links to show you the best of the best. --->

It doesn't get any better than that folks. If you can find an artist on par with these guys than you are lucky (like me).

Don't ever let anyone with questionable skills work on you. Because you will regret it. (and don't get asian lettering unless you are asian!)

A tattoo in a visible spot is a cry for help.
And bullshit like this is just bullshit.

Some people like tattoos, piercings or having glasses instead of contact lenses. It's all a matter of what you think looks good really, simple as that.

I've been considering getting a tattoo on my chest or similar several times, but often changed my mind since there's nothing I wouldn't grow tired of. Having these chinese signs for "peace" or something feels a bit lame, same with most overused symbols. I think it looks good as long as it's tasteful and not just a dragon or something like that. Some of those from the movie Eastern Promises are really cool, but then again they're Russian prison marks and all mean something:

Like stars on your knee caps mean you don't kneel to anyone, or an eagle for leadership (or something like that). They're quite stylistic anyway.

i wanted one when i was younger.
i got it and now wish i had never gotten a Romper Room tattoo on my chest

I've often thought about having one on my arm, but I have skinny arms, so it was never gonna be me.

A tattoo in a visible spot is a cry for help.

It's actually considered a socially "acceptable" form of self harm for some people. My ex wife kept getting more and more tattoos to divert people's attention from her self harming. She thought they were cool, but many of her friends and I thought not, knowing what she was like. But at least she stopped burning her arms on the oven or talking my razors to her legs.

I had to draw the line at pink dreadlocks and ear tunnels and nose, eyebrow and down-below piercings. I still loved her when we got the divorce, but couldn't look at her any longer. I was physically repulsed :crying:
