Sports betting coming to NJ.

For years the battle with the federal government has been going on. The Governor wants it and so does the legislature. A loophole has been found. The federal directive is that NJ can not regulate or participate sports betting. The Attorney General thus issued a directive that sports ******** at tracks will not be prosecuted for such actions if these betting pools did not include games played within the state or involve college teams.

Most of the ******** establishments are taking a wait and see attitude but not all. Space at Monmouth Park is being wired as I write this in a sports bar design. They are talking an October opening. British ******** William-Hill got their noses into Monmouth park a few years ago with their sponsorship of the Haskell Invitational. The Meadowlands isn't wiring but since they built their new grandstand, space was left open to construct add-ons to the present site.

If all goes as planned, not only will NJ get sports book but it won't be taxed or regulated by the state. All kinds of bets will be take like in Vegas. Not like in Delaware that is limited to tickets with parlays. Still some legislator here doesn't find that good enough. He wants to pacify the leagues with a tax. Money to be ****** onto the leagues to "help keep the integrity of the sport". Something on the order of funding investigations of improprieties. Aren't these leagues already doing this? Sounds like a way of calling off the dogs with their lawsuits. And besides, adding the tax takes away the non-involvement loophole.
