Spooky Movie Moments..

You know when you watch some movies and something spooky happens?..
I'm not talking about gore, or in-your-face scary... just small things which make your heart miss a beat..

two examples I can think of:

Poltergeist: The 'Chairs' scene.
Camera follows the woman, doing her chores in the kitchen etc.. camera moves from left to right and then back.. in those few seconds all the chairs in the dining room, have suddenly stacked up on top of the table.

I still can't figure out how they set-crew did it so quick.. I don't think there was any camera trickery involved and there's not so much as a sound, while it's being done.

second one is creepier still..

The Thing - 'Moving Corpse' scene
'The Thing' has been brought back to the US base and is on a table, covered by a blanket.
(Sorry.. I couldn't find a clip of this exact moment )
Two of the base-crew, are facing the camera, with the 'Thing' on the table, just out of focus, behind them.
Just as they finish talking , you see the blanket move slightly.. a few seconds later one of the guys turns around, gives a look at the blanket/thing and walks out of the room.

From the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com)
"The shot of the chairs that position themselves in the amazing balancing act on the table was all done in one take. As the camera panned along with JoBeth Williams, who was getting some cleaning materials, several crew members quickly set an already organized pyramid of chairs on the table, then took the single chairs away before the camera scrolled back."

yea, they did do it pretty fast. what was that, not even 10 seconds the camera wasnt on the chairs?

SPOILERS!!

at the end of The Blair Witch Project when that guy is just standing there in the corner waiting for his turn to die. you dont see anything horrific, but the mentality behind it is what scares the shit outta me.

in Sunshine when Cillian Murphy gets informed by the computer that there is 5 lifeforms on-board the ship, and not 4.

Zodiac when the floor boards above the basement start creaking "are you sure we are alone in the house?"

Signs when the alien walks past the driveway during the kids party

Sixth Sense when the mother leaves the room for 5 seconds, and when she returns all the cupboards and draws are open, and the little kid completely still in the middle of the room

Orca (1977): Whe the whale fetus hits the deck (I was 7 years old when I saw that)

My first porn movie (I discovered it in Dad's office when I was 11)

Poltergeist (I can't remember the scene, but the entire movie freaked me out as a kid)

I think one of the eeriest scenes in a movie is in the original Halloween when the 2 girls are in the car driving, and you see the car Michael Myers is driving following them in the distance while Don't Fear the Reaper is playing on the radio. It makes it eerie because it doesnt emphasize that the killer is stalking them, but you can tell he's there.

looking at that scene now isn't scary, but during the movie it made me jump out of my fucking skin.

And remember that bit when the little girl says theres a monster outside her room? And for one split second you see the figure of a man on top of the roof... DEAR GOD... that movie was good, why did they have to ruin it within the last 10 minutes?!??!?!

Yes. Yes. God yes. That one scared me when I first saw it.

My spooky movie moment is The Shining. The whole scene in room 237 with the woman freaks me out. Mostly cause it's a old woman naked.

Event Horizon when Sam Neill sees that lady, I think it's his wife, all disfigured and zombie looking while fixing the "mainframe" down one of those spooky green corridors. In fact, that whole film scares me.

Yes. Absolutely! That moment in Signs is one of the few times I've felt a chill down my spine. It still haunts me. 2012 is coming.

HAHA!

Yes. That scared the shit out of me in the theater. I had to smoke a cigarette to calm down after, and I'm not a smoker.

Yes and when they are all in the celler toward the end. They've got the 2 flashlights on opposite ends of the screen, they cross in the center and the aliens hand moves. I even saw it coming but it still made me jump.

How about the scene near the end where Jamie Lee Curtis is in the foreground and then in the background and slightly out of focus you see Michael Myers slowly sit up and turn his head toward the camera ? That's my favorite creepy movie moment from that movie.

I got one! The scene in the movie "Fire In The Sky" where the aliens are doing those experiments on that guy!! Great movie and great scene!

I suppose one of the great spooky moments is in Jaws... just that sound:
'Da-dum.........Da-Dum..........
DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,
