Splinter Cell: conviction

I was ultra surprised to see that there was no thread for this game on here, considering there's a ton of xbox only fans around and the game comes out tomorrow:dunno:

So what are your thoughts? Was there a demo on xboxlive for this game?

I know. I was just letting you know there was one. It's like my I am excited for Mass Effect 2 thread. Somewhere along the line that thread died for a few months and it's the Mass Effect 2 thread.

I don't know. The game section can be weird. One day a thread is dead and the following week it is alive and booming.

L3ggy

Special Operations FOX-HOUND
And then the next week, it's brain dead.

TOMORROW correct? perfect! just in time for me to leave for Montreal for a hockey tournament on thursday. guess ill start playing this one Next week (maybe)

PlasmaTwa2

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
About time this came out.

Got it early yesterday, and it's amazing so far. Every bit what I hoped it would be.

i heard it is only 5 hours of single player.

not getting it.

I heard it was very short but is it really that short??? If so, what are they trying to do, rip off people like call of duty modern 2 did with their campaign? And splinter cell isn't really an explosive online game like CODuty is either, so where's the $60 going:dunno:

I will admit that Splinter Cell is the type game I will buy most likely full price. Depending on money flow at the moment. It's coming in rather nicely. I will see about it in two weeks.

If it is 5 hours... I have to not believe that. This is all "I heard" in other words: hearsay.

To some people they will play, skip cutscenes, go direct routes and/or have strategy guides to get them through and it will cut out on experience of the full game. Therefore, I am waiting for GameInformer.

I love my Splinter Cell. I cannot believe Tom Clancy and Ubisoft would compromise this title. Let alone, if it is all for the multiplayer, that is bullshit I call. Multiplayer is added incentive (not a you're lucky if we add it; meaning they focus on the story and single campaign and then multiplayer) when it comes to the Tom Clancy franchise. Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory, Double Agent, great multiplayer and great story and single player.

I, as of now, refuse to believe this game is any different. Especially lacking.

That fucking clerk at the gamestop asked me if i want to get the strategy guide when i picked up my copy today! i told her without hesitation "i'm buying the game to play it and experience it,not to have a book sitting on my lap the whole time to immediately look into if i get stuck,i have a functioning brain...i'll figure it out!"

Some strategy guides I like to buy just to have. Kind of like how people collect stamps, bottle caps, or post cards. No use. However, collected, no less. :hatsoff:

When it comes to games, the only time I buy a strategy guide is if it is a game like Morrowwind.

Splinter Cell games have all been short in single player mode....
I knew with the new consoles and power that they'd go for more online play with this game.

Good to see it back

Yes buying this game on Friday, really looking forward to it.
I played the demo it was quite fun and enjoyable, but i'm buying it mainly for multiplayer.

i didn't know about that until i read my most recent issue of EGM magazine.
360 & PC only! surprising

Just finished the game and it took me 3 nights at maybe 3 hour sittings a piece.

Good game, Im not sure if I would go as far to say it was worth the wait, remember the wait has been two years.

Hard not to go to deep into any kind of review without giving away spoillers, but game play to me, is splinter cell meets FPS. Stealth for the majority of the game takes a side seat. No longer are mission objectives, evade detection and use non lethal force. In this run through of the game, Ive pretty much killed anyone who got in my way.

Even some of the shooting elements are gone and been replaced with the handy execute function, guarantees a head shot, as long as you pull of a hand to hand kill, which isnt particularly challenging as long as you are patient and know when to strike. The H2H system isnt much more complicated than hitting "B" when you are in the enemies blindspot and close enough.

Interrogation techniques are nice, depending where you stand on the location lets you use the physycal environment in your "Questioning". But ill reserve further review til more of you guys have finished it.

I would pose the question to you though, is this the last time we shall dawn Sam's new and improved goggles? Or has the ageing warrior put down his SC3000 for good?

i will say if this game gets bad reviews or reviews not on the upper positive side then i think this may be the end of it.
Splinter Cell was all about Stealth, shadows, sticky cameras, stick shockers and non lethal takeouts. i was digging that aspect of the game.
i have this game but have not played it yet, i will get to it in a few days
so my opinion may completely change from what i just typed above. :dunno:
