Sony vs Samsung 4K Ultra HDTVs

Which is better? I have a Sony 75" XBR850D that had a board problem and now need to exchange it for another set. Should I get a Samsung which I also read had problems occasionally or try my luck again with Sony? I really loved the Sony but was disappointed when the TV took a permanent dirt nap.

Sony recently announced new 4K TVs with a new backlighting system that really kicks ass. I'd look at one of those.

I have a Samsung and have been happy with it. Both offer HDR so you can't go wrong with either TV. Right now is a good time to invest in HDR. If you really liked the Sony I'd say go with another Sony TV

That's ironic, Dino. I have a Samsung but have been thinking of getting a new Sony t.v. Don't get me wrong my Samsung is still great even if it's nearly two years old, but I was looking for a t.v. with all the latest 'bells and whistles' on it.

Went to Best Buy/Magnolia today. They seem to try to steer me toward the Sony like last time. Basically, if you like a more realistic picture go with Sony but if you want dynamic color then choose Samsung.

I don't know which is better in this particular case. However, I do know that generally speaking, Sony makes quality stuff. That said, so does Samsung.

Picking up the Sony XBR75X940D tomorrow. Magnolia and Sony are crediting me for $4000 on the original 850 and I'm paying an extra $1000 to get the 940. I'm happy.

Just got my 940 delivered and installed today. The wife even said the picture is much nicer than the 850. I noticed the difference in the blues, blacks, and reds while watching the news.

I'm gonna stick with Samsung. I've had my 1080p set for years and it's been great. I don't need to replace it but I'm itching to make the jump to a 4K curved screen.

Because, you know, I HAVE to have it.
