I will not be surprised if PSP2 has the 3D capabilities like Nintendo's 3DS just like they copied Wii motion control. (I love that back in 2006 Sony and Microsoft said they weren't gonna pursue motion control because it was just a fad). Of course they're working on PS4 because all the companies probably started working on their next systems the day their current gen systems were released.

I had a PSP and sold it after 4 months of owning it and still have yet to see a reason to have kept it. I am very impressed with the 3DS and can't wait to try it myself. I love my PS3, Xbox and Wii. So am anxiously awaiting the next gen too. I read on ign.com that an analyst said don't expect next gen announcements though until almost 3 years from now.


By the way, shouldn't this thread be in the games section?

It's a little early for them to realize the PS3 isn't going to catch up to the Wii. They won't be starting over for at least three years at best.

The Wii outsells everybody because they went for the lowest common denominator and tailored their system to the absolute most casual of video game players. It doesn't mean their system or most of their games don't suck. I would be a little afraid that Sony and Microsoft would see their success and try to copy it in a lot of ways thus bringing them down with it.

He means toning down their systems. Neither company has toned down either their systems, or their advertising towards hardcore gamers. That'll change somewhat when those launch, but the bread and butter of both companies is hardcore gamers.

Don't expect a new generation console anytime soon. It takes years to develop those things so if Sony is just now announcing that they're beginning to work on a new system, it'll probably be at least 3 or 4 years before we see it.

They started developing the PS3 about 6 months after the PS2 launched. Same with Xbox. They began work on the 360 before the first Xbox had even become popular.

I am not a big fan on hanhelds to be honest. But consoles are awesome. Last console I had was PS2, I didn't go for the 360, PS3, or Wii. I wouldn't mind getting a PS4 if it had 3D capabilities.

Naw they have already been working on PS4 since 2006. Eventually PC will start out doing PS3 in the graphics department, and we know that is when the consoles usually upgrade. The gameplay was still awesome for the PS2 but the graphics became dated. The same can happen to the PS3 in 2011, so they will need to release a new console.

Devlopment for the PS3 didn't start until mid-2003. While it does typically take 2-3, in some cases 4 years, both the X-box 360 and PS3 were right at about the 3 year mark in development when they came out.

Good luck selling a ps4. A lot of people just got their ps3 after waiting for the ridiculous price to go down. I remember I didn't get the ps2 until a year and a half after it came out (had to save up my allowance).
