Something weird about "our" avatars....

I thought about this right after I signed up as well. I know I went to some other boards and wanted to use pics of a chick as my avatar and people thought it was weird.

I've always seen it on here as your avatar is like your favorite babe or what ever.

Yes, BNF, when I first perused these boards I thought it odd that men were using women as their avatars, but really it's just to support, promote, and draw attention to your favorite/one of your favorite models or actresses!!!

This isnt the only place where guys put pornstars in their avatars. They do same thing on other boards like the Adult Film Database forum, Porn City, and Adult DVD Talk. I dunno. I think its a universal porno board kind of thing.

Like Famousbabes, I've seen men with female avatars on other boards, mainly sports boards.

This thread gives me an excuse to point out something that I noticed long ago (but haven't because I know it sounds ridiculous), and that's that one's avatar affects how I view that person.

For example, (and I use this cuz Tachi's a mate and I doubt he'll take offense), but Tachi's old Amber Evans avatar had a very innocent look to her, so innocent that I unconsciously attributed that characteristic on him as well. The Jodie Marsh avatar and the one he's got now (sorry, I don't recognize her) look much more worldly and sophisticated, and once again I think I've transferred those attributes to it's owner. Crazy, but true... and I've actually done the same with other people.

You have a good point there. I think, in a way, my avatars affect what I actually write about to an extent. I mean, it wouldn't look right if I started talking graphically about hardcore porn when my avatar is of classically trained pianist Myleene Klass. But saying that, I'm not really into that sort of thing anyway, and that's pretty much why I chose the avatar. So I guess it's the same with everyone else.

When I think about it, everyones avatars do indeed make a real impact on how I view them. It's nice!
