Some interesting stuff going down in Iran

A 22 year-old woman died while in custody of the "Hijab police"; likely from beating.

Protests going on across the country. Instead of "bra-burning", they're "Hijab burning":

It's making me feel warm and fuzzy seeing both men and women in that country standing up and telling the government they're not going to take that shit any more. I hope the CIA/Mossad is taking note and giving them all the support they can. It's going to be interesting to see if this results in change.

I get some of my best wine as gifts from Iranian immigrants who would rather be called Persian. Great taste in booze regardless. My neighbors are very Westernized and seriously pro-American. There must be a lot of similar types over there now who would like a freer and more prosperous lifestyle like my neighbors. Good luck to any rebellion. Theocracies are shit.

Yeah the Persians I know always says they're Persian too...growing up there were always Persian Pride guys fighting everyone...guess most don't like whoever changed it to Iran...which would be the Ayoltolla back then I guess...FIGHT THE POWER✊

I hope they find the fuckers who killed her and show them the worst that middle-eastern public executions has to offer.
The police are protected in places like that so slim chance...not like the western countries after George Floyd...but yeah what a fucking bunch of cowards killing a girl in handcuffs...

Those protesters are brave over there in middle East...Iran is like the China of the middle East...

Legally, they might be protected. But not from mob justice. They know the precinct/building she was held at, so who knows if they will target that?
Like you said, they are showing some real balls protesting like that - if there was a chance they can enact change by force, I'm hopeful this is it.

Oh what I meant was dictatorship places protect police not with laws but with fear privilege and police culture...I doubt the mobs will attack the police or the police station because they'll fear police retaliation unfortunately...as for enacting change by force hopefully they can do it but the odds are low in dictatorships like that...

I wouldn't discount the Iranian protesters yet. They're going farther than the usual protests, and they have hit police vehicles & personnel.

The BLM protests burned down the precinct police station, so it's not without precedent.

Out of all people, I would have thought you'd be more optimistic and excited about all this.

I'm rooting for the Persian people so bad to get their freedom. They do so well over here.

My next door neighbor is a Persian Christian. You should hear the venom out of his mouth about the Ayatollah. "Buddy, he's filthy. He cut his filthy yellow toenails and they fall all over the place. Y'know, he's not even Persian..." I don't understand what he's talking about after that. You know what he makes the Supreme Leader of Iran seem like? You guessed it... a bum.

Oh I'm happy they're protesting...but I'm not optimistic because I can't help but be more realistic because it makes me unhappy when dictatorships crush insurgents and torture them...I just don't like their odds of success but I'm definitely cheering for them...just like I'm cheering for Ukraine but I'm not optimistic for them to ultimately win even though it does seem like they're winning now...war has too much death no matter who wins to be excited about for me and I feel same about protesters in dictatorships because of the insurmountable odds against them...but anything can happen and hopefully all their sacrifices and risks will pay off...

I think it's because alot of Persians that leave Iran don't support the Ayatollah and the Iranian current dictatorship...kinda like those who flee Afghanistan are fleeing the current Taliban regime...so most of the immigrants here won't have anything positive to say about the regimes they leaving from and if the regimes didn't change they might not have immigrated away at all...

A lot of them saw the writing on the wall and came over earlier than 1979. I know several who came over in 72/73. Almost 50 years which is 2 1/2 generations.

A member of an Iranian pro-government paramilitary organisation, the Basij, was stabbed to death in the northeastern city of Mashhad on Wednesday, two semi-official Iranian news agencies reported on Thursday.

Tasnim also said another member of the Basij was killed on Wednesday in the city of Qazvin as a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by "rioters and gangs".

Nour news, a media outlet affiliated with a top security body, shared a video of an army officer confirming the death of a soldier in the unrest, bringing the total reported number of security force members killed in the unrest to five.

In the northeast, protesters shouted "We will die, we will die but we'll get Iran back" near a police station which was set on fire, a video posted on Twitter account 1500tasvir showed. The account focuses on protests in Iran and has around 100,000 followers.

Another police station was set ablaze in Tehran as the unrest spread from Kurdistan, the home province of Amini and where she was buried on Saturday.

There you go. And it's only escalating.
Hopefully we'll hear that those responsible for her death have been brought to justice.

That's the first thing I thought too. He had an opportunity to give his side but chose to crap the bed instead. Good chance he never wanted the interview and found his excuse. What a bum.
Even if she wore a headscarf, He probably would have found something wrong with it, and said "You could be arrested if you were dressed like that in my country"

She coulda wore a beekeeper's outfit over a fencing uniform over a wetsuit and he woulda come up with some crapola so he didn't have to sit down and answer hard questions.

That's what happens when corrupt political or religious ideologies get or take control of governments.
The 1979 religious takeover of Iran's government wasn't a revolution, it was a devolution.
Similar corrupt ahole governments control China, Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, etc.
It almost happened in America when ahole Trump conned his way into the White House, but luckily ahole Trump was deposed in what may be the last honest federal election in America. Hopefully, the people will continue to vote against the Trumpism ideology and maintain democracy for a few more years, until ahole Trump and Trumpism are dead.

Iran police investigate video of officer’s alleged sexual assault of protester

The fucker cops a feel and grabs the woman's ass while "detaining" her. As you can see from the video, that was no accident. Let's see where this "investigation" goes.
