So I woke up completely fucked this morning.........

I woke about 5:30am this morning (4 1/2 hourse ago here) with severe back pain, nothing I've ever had before and I just assumed I had ***** funny, anyway I thought I'd just ***** it off until I tried lying down and the pain worsened. At this point I panicked and woke everyone in the house fearing something major was going down, the pain continued to increase and I couldn't even breathe in fully as when I tried the pain worsened, then I got dizzy and almost ****** out probably due to the pain. Anyway I muttered to my ******* to call the ambulance as at this point I needed to be knocked out, no standing/sitting position brought any confort and the pain was unbearable, I manged to lie down and the pain seemed to ease after a while, just as well as the hospital phoned saying as it wasn't my heart and me still being conscious I wasn't serious enough for them to send me an ambulance. This would have devastated me 10 mins earlier but I was improving, anyway I managed to speak to the nurse on the phone and she started down the angina/acid route eventhough I don't eat before bed or even spicy foods or anything and told me to avoid spicy foods and caffeine and try gaviscon. Anyway I got to bed and just woke with little left of my original pain, I find it hard to believe it settled down so quick considering a few hourse earlier I needed hospitilisation and more worrying is this could have been caused by food which I don't even eat much of and eat bland anyway. People are looking at me know thinking it can't have been as bad as I said it was considering my 'recovery' but it was the worse pain I've ever had, I was practically in tears. Anyway with my luck I always get the shitty problems like this but was wondering if anyone else here has experienced anything like this or could shed any further light on what it could have been, obviously I'll seek medical advice when my Doctor opens in the week but I don't know much about the back (it was the whole upper back region, felt like stabbing/crushing) and am worried that this could happen again. Thanks in advance

To me not to send an ambulance just because pain has subsided is unacceptable. Obviously the pain came from somewhere or something. With Pulmonary Embolism, you are awake and not in pain, or if you have asthma, since it's not your heart, they're not going to send an ambulance?! If there is a severe infection where your sciatic is, that person may not be able to walk, so no ambulance. That's fucked up.

It depends on the area. Where I am, the hospital is separate from the ambulance service. Now depending on the amount of patients, the hospital can say that they are full and send the ambulance to another hospital. The hospital may not be equipped to handle someone's condition. Then they will stabilize them and send them to another hospital. Also I dont think that Ulysses is in the U.S.

The NHS (National Health Service) here is totally fucked, it literally has no money (except when sending ambulances out to treat drunks coming out of the clubs). A & E (Emergency Room) run skeleton servics and you're looking to wait at least 3 months to see a consultant, I waited 9 for physio once. They've also been threatening to close down my local hospital for years which is probably less than a mile from my house! Looking back (a few hours that is) I'm shocked they never sent an ambulance considering the agony I was in, I was close to collapsing and could barely breathe. I've said before on this forum the entire people of Europe are allowed to use the NHS for free meaning more of a already limited budget gets used up by people who are not even born and raised here, I wonder if I could just fly over to Germany and use all your facilities for free and not even know how to speak German or spend a day working/paying taxes in your country, makes me sick!

If you ask for an ambulance in the US, they send it regardless of whether or not your need it because you (or your insurance company) are going to be the one paying for it. This sounds serious mate, I'd go see or call a doctor, or even go to the hospital.
I'm not a doctor myself, so I'm not going to give you medical advise. I have some ideas what could be wrong, but I'm not going to tell you, because it might be completely wrong. Anyway, if you are in such pain, you need professional advice, and quick.

I agree with the NHS in principle but it gets horribly ****** in reality, free healthcare for all should not cover people who make their own problems after previous warnings like drinkers and smokers or boob jobs because the women after suffering low self esteem, that WON'T fix the problem and they would be better off with counselling. Even gastric bands for people who have eaten themselves ino obesity is wrong as they don't learn anything except that they can eat what they want because the NHS will be there to bail them out. I also think if you have more than 3 **** you should pay all the medical bills for the rest and not receive any benefits as well as free homes, no wonder people have so many **** when you know the state will reward you for it with money and homes. We have ambulances patrolling the streets to pick up drunks on the street who have got wrecked in the clubs, fuck em and let someone rob/beat them as they lay *********** in the road, they'll learn for next time or if you have to take them in charge £100 a visit. People like me who work and pay taxes can't even get an ambulance when we need one yet obese people sitting at home on disability payments (obesity is a disability apparently) get a special ambulance and firemen just to get them to the hospital over any ***** complaint, then you get your clubbers who get so ****** they have to be picked and and don't get me started on the Poles who come here ******** on the roads all night them go to hospital as it's a warm place to stay, the system needs an overhaul big time.

It depends where you are. Not so long ago my wife had arm pain, then numbness and dizziness. Despite the fact that it had subsided, they sent out an ambulance for her and took her to hospital for about 8 hours for observation.

Especially the thing about drunks. I remember one Friday night I was travelling by train and a pregnant girl started having extreme pain and trouble standing (she'd been travelling by train to see a Dr and had told me something about her spine beginning to open up) and so I called an ambulance to pick her up from the station (trouble walking as well as standing) and they said they didn't have one spare.
I'm assuming (and feel safe in this assumption) that this is because they knew they'd need many ambulances for drunks or were already becoming overwhelmed with injured drunks.

It will be interesting to see if call-me-dave manages to pass his legislation to raise the price of *******, prices the idiots out of ******* oblivion and then suddenly has to deal with a massive portion of the country who, without the anaesthetic of ******* will start causing trouble when they **** up and see just exactly what the twat is doing to our once green and pleasant land...

Sounds like your countries and ours have much more in common then some liberal American assholes would like to believe. I sure wish I would have written my term paper on this like I thought of instead of the topic I had chosen. I did do some brief research on the Canada/America differences, and that, as well, is quite different than some people lead on. America really isn't as bad as some people imply.

And I can surely tell you that the lowest class in America is quite well taken care of. In fact, you are better off if you are **** poor than you are if you bust your tail and, like you stated, play by the rules and pay taxes. God this issue really gets on my nerves with all the misinformation spread by the MSM.
