So I Drove My First Hybrid and.....

Well last night at my job I was surprise to find out that the company had bought some hybrid cars. To be specific it was a 2009 Toyota Prius with just 133 miles on it. I drove it for about most of my eight hours shift and needless to say it was awesome! It what I would call the i phone of cars, or should I say the i car of cars...this thing had a touch screen, with satelite radio, cool graphics and the way it started...well I guess I am not a hybrid virgin anymore...just thought about exchanging this experience with you all...so how many of you ahve driven one already?

Here's a link with a pic of it...

Yeah. Very high tech, with the backing camera and one-touch transmission. Watch out though because the steering is fully auto--if the engine goes out so will the steering...completely.

Sound pretty good, might have to go jump in one later this year... Steering makes me wonder about it though...

That's nice to know...well I will get to drive this car every day that I work, so I get some time to get used to it...the only thing that I have is the look, I am still not convinced about the look. Do you know that there's an Escalade Hybrid, I don't like Escalades but that is amazing.

You're lucky. That is one nice auto.

I pray to all the gods man can imagine they never make a hybrid Harley!
With all the Green cars ya'll will be forced to drive soon, there should be plenty of room for a gas burning air polluting rumble-engined resource-wasting scooter.:D

I don't know... electric motorcycles are getting some recognition. The KillaCycle can do a quarter-mile in 7.89 sec with a top speed of 174 mph, which only puts it about 1 sec and 50 mph below the fastest gas motorcycles in the world.

I don't ride a Harley for speed, I ride it 'cause it feels and sounds like a Harley.
All other things aside, I could lean back a little while cruising at 75 or 80 and just listen to my motor, and feel real good.
I've had 4 cylinder *** bikes that were screamers, but the sound at cruising speed was more like a sewing machine than a rumble.
I enjoy the sound.

fair enough

So, it's a ridiculously trendy and severely over-priced piece of garbage that a hundred other companies make at a greater quality and even sell for a lesser price?

:1orglaugh

Well the isn't the i phone or i pod kinda pricey? I agree they do cost a lot, but hopefully the price will come down and the outside design be better. I am not trying to make a green statement in here, just an observation that I used to despise this type of car, but after driving it, I had to admit it's quite the experience, I don't care about loud vehicles, they in fact anoy the hell out of my ears..sorry harley guys

Yeah, it just won't make you feel like a real man if you're not killing something or poisoning the environment.

You've captured the American way of life perfectly. Extend that to the females and kids, too.

S'pose you can include the family pets, too. Little, wasteful things.. domesticated animals = vanity. Doncha think? They cant sustain their own lives nor provide useful labor. If I had a dollar for every dickhead who said 'He's a guard dog!' about their whiny-assed, bark-at-everyone-who-walks-by piece of shit mutt.. He cant guard shit. Have they even seen a police dog? Now THAT could take an intruder down. That malnourished thing you call a dog is just smelly and noisy.

On-topic: Hybrids are cute. Wish the price would become feasible for every income level. The prius drives decently but next to an SUV it's definitely intimidated... if not fuel efficient. ;)

a little smooth economical car but I feel more safe in an old 60's-70's car with body steel quarter panels, rwd and carburetted engine.

Toyoto Prius has a lot of problems.

No. 1 It is more than $10,000 than a Toyoto Corolla

No. 2. The interior room design is not than great.

No. 3. In order to run in the highway, Toyoto Primus has to turn to the gas engine. Basically it is a slow moving car if you just depend on the electric hydrid part of the engine.

No. 4 It takes 4-5 years to recover the saving.

I am waiting for a plug-in electric car with a very small gas engine as back-up.

Backing camera can be installed in any car. vans truck and is standard in most UPS, FedEx courier vans and many commercial vehicles.
