Yeah ! I used to ride pipes, pools & parks when it all became popular about 20 + years ago. There used to be hella lotta skateparks up and down the state of California, hundreds in fact. My friends and I built some pretty nice plywood ramps when
vertical and air were the mainstay.
I still wish that I kept some of my stuff.
It's much like riding a bike, you never forget.
We used to scout out abandoned homes in the proposed freeway area of the valley. You see, eminent domain was in the works for a good many homes, back when, and a handful had empty swimming pools ! Just bring a broom & dustpan ! lol . . . Then the earthmovers arrived  the end of that hangout.
A friend, found this beautiful "fullpipe" nearest a fresh water reservoir about 10 miles north of Palo Alto, Ca. IIRC - Approx. 30 foot circumference. The only trouble was that we had to wait till about August to be able to hike in shovels & sandbags. The shovels to clean the mud & debris and the sand bags to dam up the trickle, if you will. Some of the guys actually plastered the roughed up areas. It just became too much effort trying to stem the flow, so we bailed.
Many of
"life's firsts" came into my possession during those years. I bet that you could name about a half a dozen of those
"firsts" lol
Yeah ! Those we're memorable years !
The skate and surf rat I was :o
