i bought it for PS3 when it came out, and got bored almost immediately. they dumbed it down so much for consoles that it takes all the depth out of the game. you cannot even choose a mapsize anymore... also, teh multiplayer was broken when i bought it. i was never able to invite a friend, and he was never able to invite me, even though we were both online at the same time and knew other's nicks, etc etc...

this is a horrible game, if you must get it i recommend renting before buying.

are you freakin kidding me? ps3 may have dropped the ball but the xbox 360 was spot on! its gata be one of the most addicting games ive played in a while and i couldnt see any reason to not buy it without hessitation. assuming, of course, that you are into turn based strategys

i am, but revolution takes out all the depth. everything is simplified in eth ectreme, and it gets repetitive very quickly. the same strategy works every time, against any opponent.

of course if you like faster paced gameplay with more combat then that is good for you... i have to admit that combat is a lot more fun than in older civ games.

if you are looking for some free strategy games, i maintain a small list here:

thanks for that link dood! imma have to check that out soon

I played the original Civilization and Civilization II to death...

I never got into later incarnations of the game and i still play a CivII game here and there.

On PC.

the only game i ever played similar to this was rome. taht was also entertaining as hell for me. anyone else get hooked on that one too?

I played one of the civ games on my PS1 but never got into it. If this games is pretrty sweet though, I may just have to check it out. Perhaps my gameing tastes have changed over the years.

i played the demo. the navigation in the game is annoying.

The last civ type game I ever played was Alpha Centauri; and they changed the gameplay so much in the later civ games.. and even the expansion pack for Alpha raped the gameplay.

The civ games just arent fun to play, anymore. They're made for toddlers. AKA Warcraft/starcraft gamers who want to zerg their opponents instead of actually using STRATEGY and UNIT MANAGEMENT! BLEH!

i will agree with the last comments, however, i do appreciate the hell out of the total addictiveness and ease of play of this game. as much as i appreciate a really in depth strategy game which requires alot of thought and planning, being able to sit back and play half mindlessly and watch ur opponents be bombed to hell or have tanks roll over em.

so this is wierd. i won a victory with every different nation possible, which is worth a 15g achievement per nation. there is also a separate achievement once you get a victory with every nation, for 30g. like i said i did them all finally and got all the 15g achievements, but for some bas ackwards reason it didnt give me the 30g achievement too. what gives?
