Setting Your Console Flat (Horizontal) Or On Its Side (Vertical)

I've always heard it is better to lie your console flat horizontally. Laying it on its side vertically supposedly increases the possibility of getting the disc scratched. Seems it would keep cool better flat horizontally too.

Am I correct about placing my console flat horizontally or is it also safe for it to be on its side vertically?

Flat and horizontal for me. The excepting was the Wii. But that eventually went flat too!

Flat as my console is right in the middle in front of the tv :D

I read that vertical is better for cooling and ventilation as there is more exposed surface area. Plus it takes less space, and if it wasn't beneficial you wouldn't think they would be selling official accessories specifically designed to let you do that.

I don't know about recent generation consoles, but in the past I've heard that lying them flat is easier on the mechanical components within them that have to move and wears them out less with time. :dunno:

For the EMPEROR!!
Yeah I've heard arguments for both, but have always preferred to lay mine flat. Plus being a pet(s) owner it is more feasible.

I have a cat who goes schizoid around 0500 every morning so horizontal it goes. And discs? What's that?

Speaking of pets, I have a cat that likes to sleep on or just behind my consoles, for the warmth I guess, but when I bought an Xbox One Gears of War 4 console when it came out it does that Juvie scream when you eject the disc, it scared the living shit out of it.
It doesn't try to sleep there anymore.
