Georgia ‘patriot’ reportedly planted pipe bombs in park to sow fear of Muslims


A 67-year-old Marietta, Georgia man is accused of planting a backpack containing two pipe bombs in an Atlanta-area public park in order to frighten the public and sow fear of Islamic terrorism.

According to Atlanta’s Channel 2 News, conservative “patriot” Michael Sibley confessed to police that he was trying to educate people that terror strikes can happen anywhere and without warning when he planted the bombs last November.

The backpack contained two partially-constructed pipe bombs, a Koran and a list of “soft targets” for terrorist attacks — i.e., non-military, unguarded structures like hospitals and schools. Among the list of potential targets was an Atlanta Jewish center.

Channel 2 quoted Sibley’s arrest report, which reported that he “stated that he is a ‘patriot’ and he felt no one was paying attention to what was going on the world. Sibley felt if he placed the package in a Roswell park then people would finally get that this type of activity could happen anywhere.”

Roswell, Georgia is a northern Atlanta suburb. The park Sibley chose, Vickery Creek Park, is popular with hikers and joggers for its tree-lined paths that skirt the banks of the Chattahoochee River.

A mother and daughter who were hiking together found the backpack on Nov. 4, but Sibley was arrested on Saturday by the FBI.

11 Alive News quoted a statement by acting U.S. Attorney John Horn, who said, “The defendant allegedly placed a bag containing what appeared to be pipe bombs in Vickery Creek Park. This arrest should reassure the community that serious crimes like this will be investigated thoroughly and all leads followed to identify the perpetrator.”

The federal criminal complaint against Sibley says that he is charged with attempting to damage federal property with an explosive device and with presenting false information.

So, in order to warn people that muslim terrorists could strike anywhere at anytime and try to kill as much innocent american citizens as possible, the guy himself tried to kill innocent american citizens and lure people that muslims were guilty of the attack.

Killing innocent fellow country men and women to warn people that others could do the same. And he has the audacity to say he tried to do so as an act of patriotism. To protect America, he would have killed innocent americans. What a patriot !

I'm surprised the BATFE isn't involved in any charges. I wonder if they were really bombs, or an attempt to make them look like bombs, for the purpose of menacing. I wonder if at 67 the old guy isn't starting to get a little Alzheimer's. Well, if they were real, the feds will be in on it soon.
