I found this BBC Panorama episode on Scientology (quite an old one), and I gotta say it's fucking terrifying how people follow this.

The guy making the documentary is constantly followed and harrased by Scientologists.

It's long, but worth it especially at the 26th minute when he loses his nerve and shouts at the guy following him (Never seen a BBC reporter do that!)

Scientology is nothing more then the next evolution for Celebrities to find worship. They have the fame and the money...but for them to elevated to a quasi-religious/Saint-like status is the ultimate "fame whoring" for Tom Cruise, John Travolta, etc....

It is, perhaps, the stupidist and laziest way to form a cult ever...but hey, America is the land of opportunity...

You talk like the rest of the so-called "real" religions are not just also "pure fiction" thats the point DVC and I were trying to make I think,we think they are.Or at least they have as little evidence they are true as scientology does.

which is about a guy's experience trying to videotape a scientology building. The video is creepy enough, but amazingly, I see some comments which were posted only a mere 20 minutes ago (as I write right now) but yet, already, were removed stating "[This comment has been removed due to legal action by the Church of Scientology.]" 20 minutes. Wow. Another comment, posted 8 hours ago, "This comment is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Church of Scientology International]." Lawyers, like sharks, never sleep.

IMO, Tom Cruise had the world by the balls - come out with this BS sceintology - and, maybe trying to prove to the world that he is not gay? - puts him in a down ward spiral that he will never bounce back from.

There are major differences with the major religions. While people can say they think the other religions are fake, it's more on philosophical grounds. Even then, while they may have been perverted over time, the major religions didn't have a basis of trying to drain money from people. With Scientology there is a lot of solid and circumstantial evidence that is pretty strong in indicating it's just a scam.

Ummm. I think the Catholic church is thought by some to be infamous for draining money from people.

What amazes me is that anyone would follow Hubbard's book "Dianetics" and turn it into a "religion". "Star Trek" the original series would have been a far superior choice.
