Ryse: Son of Rome

I just got an xbox one along with this game to hold me over til Titanfall. I'm interested in the time period as well. I'm kind of a military history buff.

This is actually a great game. The graphics are outstanding and sometimes borderline photorealistic. The gameplay is button mashing action all the way but there's the added dimension of quick time events . Blocking an enemy's attack at just the right moment and performing an execution maneuver on that filthy barbarian by lopping off his sword arm then stabbing him through the neck with your gladius is so visceral.

Leading your Roman company (XIV Legion FTW) through the dark woods of unconquered northern Britannia is just such a cool setting for a game. Any fans of the movie The Eagle know what I'm talking about.

I'd post a video but I don't want to spoil any moments.

Oh, and the dialogue and the voice acting are top notch.

Just finished the single player. The story was excellent. As a cinematic experience, this was better than anything you'd see at the movies for this genre. Gladiator was probably the biggest blockbuster I can think of. This game trumps that.

Everything just comes together with this game and will go down as one of my all-time faves.

Bravo, Microsoft Studios.

Probably the best looking game ever:

Impressive visuals. Worth picking up an xbox for?

That's a tough call. Though the single player campaign is well paced it still only lasts (spoiler to follow) around 8 hours. The multiplayer game is fun but is strictly arena gladiator combat which I can see getting old real quick.

If I had played this at a friend's house would it make me go out and by an xbox one? Personally, yes. I enjoyed the game that much. And its got one of the most epic endings to a game ever.

But I bought the xbox one for Titanfall so Ryse: Son of Rome was a total bonus.

What a great time to be a gamer.

I own the PS4, but am jealous about this one...

I watched the entire cutscene campaign and it looked awesome. I love my PS4 with Watch Dogs and Destiny though.
