>>> Roku Streaming Player Survey

I've created a little survey about the Roku Streaming Player due to the fact there's a few porn sites that are offering their own Roku Channels. If you don't know what a Roku is, you can look it up on the Roku.com then go take my little survey. Thanks!!

My dream is to be able to some day cut the cable (or satellite wire). I'm hoping that more content will soon be available for either the AppleTV or the Roku. Apple just picked up Hulu today, so things are looking better... but we're not there yet. The advantage of Roku over Apple though: I doubt that Apple will EVER allow porn or adult programming on any of its platforms. That's not really a deal breaker for me, but it is something to consider, as it lessens my options.

P.S. Is there a list of the adult programming/channels available on Roku?

How much did they pay you?

Who? Roku? Nada. ;-)

Didn't even know about the Roku until I went back to the states for holiday back in May. Pretty nifty little box and I'm jealous of those that have one because I don't think we'll ever see them in the Netherlands due to all the copyright red tape.

I love my Roku. I use that sucker every night. I hardly watch regular cable anymore.

I got it mainly for Netflix Instant. I was getting it through my Xbox 360 but it's a pain in the ass using the Xbox controller as a TV remote. The remote itself was almost worth the price.

:cool:

Done :) I don't own one, but took the survey anyway. Personally, I'd rather download or watch a Blu-Ray than stream. I find streaming "1080p quality" a little suspect, but to each their own :)

Edit: Okay, I don't think typing in the word "B l u - r a y" should bring up whoever the hell that is above's name. Anyway, point being. I like b l u - r a y :)

The cheapest one is only $50+/- and gets really good reviews vs. the AppleTV set-top box - it seems more versatile and doesn't have the limitations of iOS/iTunes (with no adult programming, etc.). Just based on the CNET reviews that I've read, I think it's something that a lot of people here might get into. Definitely a good idea to offer it in a contest (IMO). :thumbsup:

$50... just take it out of Roald's bonus. He won't even miss it. :tongue:

Same here in Germany, possiby worse. But I'd get one the same day it is available here to use

There is an Amazon box thing same as Roku. Claiming 1800 channels with about 5 I would ever think of watching. It just sorts out searches for stuff already on Internet streaming easier. The better content require subscriptions as usual. Even at 50 bucks I'm not charmed.

All of these video "boxes" require fast reliable internet access, which for most of the US isn't happening. We're on the edge of Silicon Valley and our DSL speed through <bleeping> Verison is about a quarter of what it was 4 years ago with daily outages. Also there's no competing competitor to go to.

You are better of with XBMC now known as Kodi: http://kodi.tv/

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Youtube, and any of thousands of other streams that can be added. It is open source, so damn near everything has been added to it. you just have to pick the hardware to run it on. Raspberry Pi $25, use a smart phone as a remote, or any old remote you have.

I have had a Roku for a couple of years now. The best thing about it is that it's the most user friendly device of its kind.
