I had this happen to me a number of months ago, while out at a diner near work for lunch. I've seen more and more articles on it, so I thought I'd start a thread.

Thoughts? For me, it was a 3 percent fee "for the kitchen staff." I was caught unawares when I got the bill, but did ask about it. I only tipped 12 percent vs. 15 percent.
