I got both on the same day and i think they both are not as good as there predessecors whats your views?

I believe (and don't quote me on this) that Silent Hill got the idea for the game from Resident Evil.
Now, I will say R.E. has HUGE GAPING STORY GAPS! So, if you like storyline, I don't recommend R.E. But, in my opinion anyway, its better game-wise. So, you judge, I'm just trying to make your decision easier.

Silent Hill.
Silent Hill by a long shot.
Both are good, but the series is started to stretch a little.
First Resident Evil. The 1st RE for PSone was scary as hell because it was the first of its kind "if your not counting Alone in the Dark" and you had no idea why there was zombies till the end. After RE 2 it was good, but the mystery of the zombis was gone, and it became just a "jumpy" survivor horror along with the rest of the series, which are now becoming kind of repetitive. Hopfully RE4 will change that.
Silent Hill is differnt it a supernatural horror and many things are not told or the story leaves gaps for the play to figure out and use its imagination as part of the scare fest. Again the First SH is extremly nerve racking and after finishing the game, the ending leaves alot up to the imagination. which could be good or bad it all depends on how you look at it. Anyways the SH series has completly differnt stories even SH3 which was the sequal to SH1 it just wrapped things up a little. I haven't played "The Room" yet and I will get a copy for the PS2 but I have heard some bad things that the story is weak and the gameplay is not much different for the rest.. but thats to be expected.
anyways my favs in the RE series are RE1,2,3... code veronica was gay. I'm not going to bother with Outbreak
