Repubs finally achieve budget success!

Well, I have to hand it to drumpf and his team. The overcooked ham hock managed to avoid a government shutdown and continue funding the government with a bill that shows exactly where priorities are for the US.

The bill provides increased spending for the National Institute of Health, the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities, Pell Grants, and the federal judiciary, while continuing full funding for planned parenthood, and around 99% of the EPA. Dodd Frank remains unchanged, sanctuary cities' federal funding is unchanged, and best of all, not a single brass razoo for the dipshit's border wall!

About the only thing he did get was less than half of the defense funding he wanted. Pretty sensible to brush up on defense when your president is an out of control idiot who could say anything at any time.

Keep up the winning, drumpfo!

...which is still far more than we need. Basically anybody worried about spending or the debt has no credibility unless they're attacking the defense budget with as much zeal as any other area. I only point out this specific dichotomy because of the number of "budget hawks" who're more than happy to throw more billions into the pockets of defense contractors.

Anyway, the amount of relief I've seen across the media about this has less to do with this being a 'good' budget (it's a business-as-usual budget), and more about how fucked up a budget everyone was expecting from Trump. But then, as long as there's money for him to go golfing at his resort every weekend, I doubt he actually gives a shit.

Yeah, I was mainly pointing out that republicans got pretty much nothing they wanted, and America goes unfucked for another day, at least from a budget perspective.

The dealmaker in chief really negotiated the hell out of that one!

The victory was to not shut down the government. Maybe not so much as a victory but to buy time to work out a way to gather support for the next budget. Tax reform and Obama care still need to be ironed out to get the votes. A penny added to the gas tax earmarked for road upgrades is an infrastructure thing. Jobs and stuff that benefit all Americans.

Politically, he could not justify a shutdown in his first 6 months. He also got his defense spending without having to match it dollar for dollar in domestic spending as was the rule previously.
There is still the infrastructure bill. Wanna bet the border wall is in that?

I'm not real happy with it but September will be a different story altogether.

Oh and mind your own fucked up country.

How's those internment camps coming? And Australian values?

*loller*

That's just the sad thing: Even keeping the lights on is a victory these days. And will likely continue to be (or worse) as long as folks keep electing hyper-partisan representatives, which will continue as long as folks keep drinking their flavor of corporate-news-narrative, which will continue as long as folks are bereft of critical thinking skills, and so on...

From a clown that is tucked away from the rest of the world and interns migrants on an island and people that wish to emigrant to his shithole have to pinky swear " Australian values".

Telling us that we shouldn't build a wall.

You're a parody poster. No other explanation for such idiocy.

Do your homework mongo. $1.5 billion new money earmarked for boarder security. This includes replacing some fencing with a 20' wall.
