Bob Ross just did landscape, I learned painting landscape in jr. high.

Rembrandt was by far a better painter than Mr. Ross

Rembrandt might have been the better painter, but you have to admit that Ross was probably much more Zen and had the cool afro.

Happy mistakes, happy mistakes.

And how about giving him a little friend here.

There were also times where Ross would have a pretty good picture going, be almost done, and then decide to pretty much cover half of what he did with a huge sloppily done pine right in the foreground. Rembrandt would have never been able to bring himself to do that without going into madness. :1orglaugh

On a serious note, Ross, to this day, was able to do quick well mountains better than anybody painter I have ever know about. They were his strong suit, and he could handle doing them with just a painting knife and his own techniques very well. He was also strong at painting relatively still water. I also liked the way he would often start paining on a black background. That's a rarity and not something a lot of artist can pull off well.

Bob Ross made it seem easy and not so high brow, so a lot of people began painting, liked it and learn that it was OK to make mistakes (I'm sorry happy accidents). He was also a good cure for insomnia because of his voice.

Bob Ross. Just cause I grew up watching him. Well my old man did, I was playing with toys on the floor.

If you are wondering if is he a painter along the line of O'keefe or Pollack, let alone Rembrandt then he's not close. Unless you watch public TV in the U.S. and maybe Canada you would not know him.

Rembrandt and Norman Rockwell have nothing on this guy.

I used to watch his show when I lived in Mexico.
