Red Faction: Guerilla

just got this game tues. and really digging it. The destruction and making buildings crumble is fun as hell. The story missions are cool and based around this destruction. The graphics are good, origianl, but the particle effects and explosions are great. Check it out it was worth the buy.

It's game of the month in Game Informer.

It looks awesome from what I kept reading about it in another video game website. The first Red Faction was kick ass big time! Second one I do not, personally, consider part of the series. Either way, Red Faction: Guerrilla looks awesome and worth the buy if you have the money and don't mind spending 60 for it!

The demo was ok at best.

Being able to destroy just about every building in sight can only be appealing for so long. I need more than that if I am to buy it. I am wondering about the missions and side quests. Are there a lot of missions and side quests?. Kind of like San Andreas [open world] meets Oblivion [the amount of missions and side quests]. Now that would get me to buy it.

I beat it last week and started playing the multiplayer. I think it's a pretty good game and worth the money.

By the way how is the multiplayer? Is it kinda tacked on to the game so it ships with a multiplayer function? Will I be back to killzone2 in 30 minutes after trying it? gotta check it.

Yes theres lots of side quests and challenges. You can try to bring down buildings within a certain target time using certain methods of destruction for the challenges. Theres lots of side quests and can consist of actions similar to the story missions but arent as detailed, they vary, and the main story missions are cool too. Its a good game. If you dont wanna drop $60 on it due to the times or something then dont pass it up rent it. Its a must play no matter how you get it.

I might buy it on monday then, as I am buying a game on monday but don't know which one to buy. It was a choice between Turbinator: Salvation and Red Faction.

You see pal for me [being in the UK] price is what causes me to be too picky [fussy] on games. On the PS2 I had about thirty+ games and that was it. Games are about 35 pounds here in the UK. And that is if you look around, some shops sell them at 40 pounds. So I do not just buy any old pish. It has to meet certain standards of mine for me to buy it. Which mainly consist of cars must have good handling and not act like they are on ice or act like they handle like a bus. And the gameplay must last a minimum of ten hours - Gears of War for example [but longer is better though]. Oh aye and it better not be cell shaded graphics either. I detest RTS games and flight sim type of games. And last but not least ALL FPS games must have good controls [your character is light on his feet and doesn't feel like he has a lead weight tied to each leg when moving].

I think that about covers it. These guide lines for me buying games might seem trivial to some people. But for me they can kill a game outright if they get an X instead of a tick.

I wasn't crazy about the story- it got old fast, but...the building destruction was fun and for me, just never got old. The multiplayer's also a lot of fun- plenty to do.

The multiplayer is pretty fun and is not tacked on at all. I had a lot of fun in Team Deathmatch using a backpack to fly up and shoot rockets at the other team. The leveling up system is kind of like Call of Duty 4.

bro, I wont even look twice at a game with cell-shaded graphics. I'm a total graphics whore no doubt but that style of graphics is hideous to me. If I hear a game name being thrown around as the new best thing, prince of persia anyone, and hear that its cell shaded I wont even look at it on gametrailers or in my gameinformer subscription.

Thanks for the info,I usually wait to beat games like this before I try the multiplayer but from your info and what I read on some game sites it sounds really fun. Blowing up a bridge with 5 dudes on it during multiplayer sounds cool as shit to me.

Played a ton of team Anarchy multiplayer last night and its fun as hell. I figured the multiplayer would be tacked on cause nothing these days in the shooter genre will sell without at least a tiny multiplayer component, but its well fleshed out in every aspect you would expect from a top gun shooter.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
on gamefly for me. The demo was :dunno:

another night of this game and I have to say the multiplayer is fun and addictive as hell. I just wanna keep playin' one more match, one more, one more kinda like do overs to beat scores in rockband.

Its fast paced but not crazy like 50 kills in a heartbeat. Its very unique too with the weapons, backpacks, equipment etc. A good time.

I prefere killzone 2

Overall Killzone is the better game but If you look at both from a enjoyment standpoint then Red Faction is the shit as well. I didnt think Red F multiplayer would be good, thought it would just be tacked on, but its very well done, unique and fun.

The destruction in the game is fun as shit.

Single player gets old really fast if you have a short attention span, some of the missions are super boring and repetitive.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun though, it reminds me a lot of Halo 3...
With sledgehammers... :) And a gun that fires ripsaw blades... :D
