Rap sucks

maybe so. But what I'm wondering is, is it just me, because it seems like this is the only genre to consistently be written off by it's detractors.

You never seem to hear rappers saying that they hate rock music and that it all is terrible, or rockers saying that they hate folk, or jazz musicians saying that they hate rock. All you hear is rockers saying that they hate rap.

I understand why you don't like rap, but I don't get why people can't seem to fathom that there must be some kind of quality to it if millions of other people like it.

I don't know, that's just my thoughts. I thought it was a weird phenomenon.

I agree I cant understand the pure hatred some people have for it. I do like some rap im not a fan of about 80% of all rap music, but I can see why its popular, but if you wade through the generic mass produced stuff in the charts you can fine some really good stuff.

its simple. people fear what they dont understand. i am an up and coming rap artist and i dont hate other genres of music, i want to experiment with them.
artists such as Justin Timberlake, Linkin Park and Coldplay has found success in hip hop music. so what does that mean??? everyone who hates rap is HATERS!

with the risk of sounding bitter and nostalgic, music has been on a serious decline for the last decade. there are good artists still, but most of them get no attention.
rnb is in the front-line of this trend, with no instruments being played and the vocals are mixed to oblivion because no one can really sing. the lyrics don't have any meaning, they're just mass-produced to go well with the melody and make somewhat sense.
it bothers me, so why would it not bother professional musicians who clearly has more talent but not the will to be commercialized and marketed just for the sales. genuinity is totally lost in favor of just making money and day-trading artists.

people mix up said rnb with hip hop and so they bash rap. in reality, there are many talented hip hoppers who are just as much musicians as everyone else.
at least that's my theory i hate just about anything played on MTV these days, and most of it is rnb claiming to be hip hop, when in fact it is not.

People hate it? So what, fuck um. It's better to have a positive opinion on something than a negative one. So... I'm winning.

I can honestly say that I was never a fan until I discovered Eastern Europe rap. No, seriously, stay with me here, some of the stuff I've heard, particularly from Russia, is better than what I hear here in the states.

I got this guys' first CD, and it's freaking awesome. The whole thing, too, not just a track or two. I don't know, it's like they took our idea, and made it better.:2 cents:

I have no doubt hip-hop will last just as long as rock music.

did you not read the rest of my post? I explained why rap is shit. There is 0 talent involved with creating it. I don't like country music or folk music, but I don't go around saying they are shit. Because I recognize that there is talent involved in the creation of said music. Besides that rap is about killing and drug use and treating women like shit. I really don't see what the fuck people like about it so much.

Ok, I see your point. I just thought that it was kind of funny to use what is basically the convention of rapping as means to demonstrate why rap is ineffectual. it's sort of a self-defeating argument, ya know?

Nope! But then making up a bunch of bullshit that rhymes doesn't constitute talent in my book. I'm referring to no talent with regards to making the "music" I use the term very loosely and no talent with regards to the person talking into the mic, because they sure as fuck aren't singing!
