According to sources within the British prime minister’s office and Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II is preparing to give up the throne in order to avoid having to meet with the American President, Donald Trump.

Over 1.8 million people have already signed a petition urging Britain to withdraw an invitation for U.S. President Donald Trump to visit London and dine with Queen Elizabeth, and the prospect of protests outside the palace when Trump comes calling has put the queen in a very difficult position

According to various sources close to the royal family, both the queen and Prince Charles have decided to give up the throne in order to avoid having to “dishonor” their country by meeting a man they consider “despicable”.

The various sources could not confirm the precise date on which the Queen was going to abdicate, but Trump’s visit is expected to take place in the second half of the year.

Trump’s provocative decision to deny refugees access to the United States and to make it more difficult for people from seven Muslim-majority countries to visit has been widely denounced and have sparked protests around the world, including many British cities.

Some media have already reported that Buckingham Palace was privately unhappy about the perception the Queen was being dragged into a political event, a fact that may have encouraged the Queen in her decision to step down.

Another obvious factor is that the Royal family already had a tense relationship with Donald Trump after he made eyebrow-raising comments in the past about Lady Diana and Princess Kate.

Just weeks after Princess Diana‘s tragic 1997 death, Trump made smutty comments about the beloved royal during an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show that he thought he could have “nailed” the princess after her divorce.

Then in 2012, the reality star tweeted about the notorious topless photos of Kate sunbathing in a private home, saying “who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does the nude sunbathing thing.”

At the time, the palace slammed the publication of the photos, saying Kate was “deeply saddened.” The tweet remains on the President’s official Twitter account.

If anybody thinks that Queen Elizabeth II who has been on the throne longer than any other British Monarch ever and has met with thousands of foreign leaders is suddenly going to abdicate the throne to avoid taking photo-ops with Donald Trump for a few hours maybe they should lay off the anti depressants for a bit.

Elisabeth II is not going to resign a 65 years long reign just because of Trump. if you think she is, youre clearly over-estimating Trump influence.
Being a Queen and being 90 years old she has many options, many ways to avoid meeting Trump.
For instance she could have her doctors saying she's suffering from the flue, which is making her extremely tired, not able to make any public appearance.

Why would a monarch who's beloved by a huge majority of the people and who's only duty if representinal, ceremonial, step down ?

Researching British peerage was and still is an interest of mine.
Not only Kings and queens but the nobilty surrounding them.
I can't think of a time when a Monarch abdicted voluntarily except for Edward VIII.
