PS3 issues.

The canned air might cause some white stubstance in your ps3... You Might not want to go that route but if you have compressed air you can go that route. Hey Whalers... just thought of this one... if you're hardlineing it to the router/modem/network/etc. it could also be that You Might have a bad wire.

it was a brand new wire when i bought it and i have it running where nothing touches it except for @ the router and @ the PS3 & X360.
but would a bad wire not work 3 times then work the 4th time without touching it or anything? i think the wire is ok.
i think i need to clear up the cache then see what happens from there.
i will keep you posted.

Then stop jerking off dirk or squalls while looking at hugh heffner and clear the dang cache then man!

OK!
the cache clear... i basically did weeks ago when i cleared out a bunch of unused or not played anymore games. i looked and have nothing else to remove.

i did this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV2LviMVRNY
which was on the 4% for about 40-50 second then it ran to the end and worked fine,in the video the person says that if there is stuff it may take a little while.

i switched the cable port on the router,

lastly i used canned air to just blow out any dust or such, which there was but not too much, from the vents and from the fan and other areas on both PS3 & X360....i did notice something though when i had the systems unplugged and was able to look at the back of the PS3....
since i use the same wire, just disconnect it from the PS3 when i use X360 and vice versa .. i blew out alot of dust from the port where the network cable goes into the PS3. i don't know if that has anything to do with it since i don't currently have anything to DL. so how can i know if i have helped solve the problem?i just have to wait for a new update to come out right?

BTW your PSN sign in...how long does it take to get connected and signed in? mine takes like 30 or so seconds before i am "signed in" just want to see if that is about what it takes for everyone.

Mine can take from between 10 to 15 seconds sometimes.I guess it kinda depends on how many of my friends are on at a given time.Seems to take longer when there are a lot of friends on.

Dust can cause massive problems and **** a system. And even dust around the system or if you "stack" systems that is bad and can trap dust.

Zell is (kinda) right. To be fully signed in, it depends on how over loaded the PSN system is, how fast your connection speed is, and a few other things. Mine usually loaded up at around 10-15 seconds as well if everything was updated and loaded correctly.

The other possibility is that you might have a virus on your PS3. It IS possible, but yet very unlikely unless if you download all your porn onto it. I unfortunately can't help you if this is the case. I would reccomend google at this point and time.

i may be saying it takes 30 seconds, cause i have no concept of time,10-15 seconds seems about right thinking about it now. if i sat and watched 30 seconds go by it's a long time and PSN doesn't take that long for me. so i guess my login time is good.
i will now have to wait until some update comes to test the "dust" issue,i don't use my PS3 for porn,i used to use it to just check out stuff after playing a game, checking out the PSstore and random stuff online but not having a keyboard is **** ....try typing using the stupid controller! i use my PC for porn.

so last night i messed around with the PS3 a bit,i went to play the Walking Dead game and there was game update to fix some corruption issues even though an update/patch was just downloaded for this game the other day. i waited for the yellow light to stop blinking which i looked online and was given THAT advice to help updates/downloads run smoother.the yellow light on the bottom left of the PS3 unit which i think is for the HD?
the walking dead update ran ok,DL'd then installed with no issues.
i also tried to play some Tiger woods PGA but when my system went to "connect" to the EA servers it just got stuck like 2 times but i wasn't that mad although i did turn off the system & unplug my router. but i think there may have been something with the EA servers since that is where it got stuck 2 times
i actually tried the PGA game before doing the walking dead game stuff so that is why i feel the ea servers were the issue, but i am just going to try again with PGA this morning just to make sure.

Get a usb keyboard or a wireless one, hook it up to one of the USB ports or get a USB port extender. Makes life a lot easier if you try to chat in games as well. Dust just doesn't effect PS3, it is cable boxes, and anything else that has a cooling fan or is an electronic.

EA servers are as stable as a woman during "that time of the month" except EA's never goes away. You never know with them.

and after blowing out both PS3 & X360 i may do this as a monthly thing

i checked tiger woods after i posted my previous message right before i hoped into the shower to get ready for work....tiger woods game popped right on and went right onto EA servers so last night musta been something.

does anyone else have these issues?

it usually takes me 2-10 tries to get into/onto PSN. i have a wired connection and have no issues with getting onto XBL immediately,i sometimes have to completely power down and shut off my PS3 to get it to just stop getting stuck in the "signing in" process. i have no issues with any other wired or wireless gadget that i use on my wireless router.

now today after playing a little tiger woods golf i wanted to look to see if there was a new update for the walking dead game and i clicked on PS Store and it just goes to a black screen for minutes without anything happening.
i have to manually power off the unit which then has to go through the whole- check files, restore files setup...after going thru all that i try again without any luck. it starts ...then says i am signed out of PSN then i click on "sign in" and it just sits there trying to sign in.

i have disconnect the power to my router thinking a reset would help and then i am going to try again to sign in and try to get into the PS Store.

anyone else have these issues or is it just me with a retarded PS3?
i have forever had issues trying to get my system to sign into PSN, since i got the system its been a clusterfuck of a pain in the ass to try signing in over and over and over, or powering down over and over and over.
getting game updates or system updates is sometimes hours long adventure !
Just wondering, is this the original ps3 or the slim?

hey !!!!! go figure its been 3 months since i posted on this issue.
last night trying to play Medal of Honor Warfighter... i first have to DL a new PS3 update? or was it a PS3 update regarding this game? that only took 2 times to get it to DL correctly & fully....
getting the game update was a lot harder ...... this is bullshit having to try to get an update 5,6,7 & 8 times of shutting the system all the way off because it kept getting stuck @ 3%.
i guess i should call SONY? i finally got it to work after the 8th try.
thoughts... opinions... ??

I must say I never have problems updating things or connecting to the store. Might have something to do with your specific router settings.
You could email their support.

First,if you haven't played your PS3 in a while, there was a system update recently. Now in regards to Warfighter, they shipped out a broken game that had to have a 1.7 gb patch on launch day.

Anyway,it sounds like you have some corrupted data or something on your console.I'd say get rid of that brick and get a slim and I can almost guarantee that you won't have these issues.

how do i find out if there was something corrupted?
plus last time i had this problem you suggested this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV2LviMVRNY
i did it maybe i should do it again? i played my PS3 like 2 days before warfighter came out so getting the system update is just a random thing although i always check before shutting down my system. i did notice while doing all that the other day, and waiting for the stuff to DL when it actually worked.... i tried playing an app on my ipod and a notice came up that i needed internet,3g or wifi to play the game, could there be issues with my wireless router that 2ipod,1 ipad,1laptop are all "on" while trying to DL and stuff is conflicting? the problem i have is that my PS3 is WIRED to my router yet a lot of times in the top right corner the warning comes up "you have been signed out of PSN" why should i just lose internet when it is wired?

my question about the slim... what happens to all my info and DL'd games and stuff? how do i get that stuff to a slim?

Honestly, the very first thing I would do is to check your internet speed and upgrade if necessary. If your internet is too slow and/or there is a lot of traffic in your area, you are definitely going to have problems.Call your service provider and see about any deals and try to upgrade to a faster speed.Although,if you don't have any issues with your PC or Xbox, then it might be something else.

Second, try to get someone else that you know to come over and hook their PS3 up to your internet. If their console doesn't have any problems, then you know that it's most likely your Brick that is having a problem. If theirs does have problems connecting, they it could be your internet.

Another thing that You Might want to do is to disconnect anything other than your PS3 to your router. If you have cable internet, and a bunch of stuff hooked up and running, then that bandwidth is getting shared and will bottleneck your speed, causing everything to slow down.

A friend of mine would always get dc'ed from PSN,and that's because he had crappy AT&T internet, and it was all wireless with a bunch of stuff on his router.

I'm not 100% sure, but if you transfer all of your save game data onto an external hard drive, you should be able to restore those files onto a new console. If you are a PS+ member, then I think that you can save all of it on their cloud storage and restore it once you log onto your PSN account on the new console.Google that and I'm sure that you will be able to find out what you need.

the problem i have with the router possibly being conflicting is that. when i am DL'd updates or game updates nothing else is really going on with other devices hooked up to the router (wirelessly) so nothing is technically bottlenecking.
i can go onto the internet on the PS3 and surf without ANY issues everything works fine. it's just when i am DL'd game updates.
i did that PS3 defrag that you showed me and when i click on it to start the process it said "the system will fix the corrupt files" <<something like that
i am going to try it again tomorrow and try to record it on my phone to see what it says. the screen came up and switched so fast i couldn't read the whole message.

Do you have a NAT3 type connection? If you have a NAT3 type connection You Might get all sorts of problems connecting to the Playstation servers and playing games online. To see if you have a NAT3 connection you do a network test (under Settings/Network Settings/Internet Connection Test). If you get NAT 1 or 2 then that´s not the problem, but if you get NAT 3 You Might have to manually open ports on your router and/or modem. Here´s a link that explains how to do this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090302035543AAbyiNM
