PS3-getting game updates

does anyone else have an issue with this?
sometimes i have issues and other times the updates happen lickety-split.
last night i wanted to play Crysis2,there was a game update but when i clicked on OK the download got stuck on 1%-3 times!
i shut my PS3 down completely and tried again 3 times.
the 4th time it started and got to 7% before getting stuck.
the 5th time i got error code 80710102
the 6th time nothing happened,i clicked OK and it went to the next step but never switched screens-got stuck.
the 7th time the game update screen didnt even come up! it went right to the game-once i hit start it said "installing game update-please wait" it took like 5 minutes to install and then all was fine.
I have this issue every now and then with the DL getting stuck & i have had times where the game update runs immediately and there is no problem.
i have my PS3 wired direct from my router,because the wireless for PS3&Xbox360 have always given me issues but i have been wired for months now. probably since beginning of spring. for all i know any other update i may need to make could work perfectly ok without a hitch.(i may try all my games today to see if they need updates & to test this issue further)

does anyone else have/had this issue? any solutions that they may have used?

all the information through google searches has like 10 different things to try on each board/forum/answer page. and i dont feel like messing with my settings for my router or such because my computer works fine (since i am typing this here) my 2 laptops and all wireless ipods work fine.i have comcast internet btw.
it seems just sporadic issues with the PS3 game updates/system updates. any updates with the xbox360 work fine without problems.

I've had something similar happen to me, but only once or twice. All I did was redownload it.

When i get game update things, it downloads and installs in about 30 seconds or less and slightly longer for system updates

Then again i have my ps3 right next to the router pretty much and i have the slimline one if that makes any difference

I'm playing Crysis2 at the moment as well.

I've never had that problem with my PS3 :dunno: although that used to happen to my Xbox all the time until I changed my router.

so yesterday i tried all my PS3 games to see if they needed updates,and,to see how it worked.
i had 3 games that needed updates,the 1st one worked fine-DL'd & installled-quick n' easy.
the 2nd one did the same as the other day,where it stalled after only a few %. so i shut down PS3,unplugged internet cable from PS3,unplugged power from wireless router & switched ports where the cable to PS3 was.
plugged all in,turned all on and tried again and it worked fine,all updates quick n' easy.
was it anything that i listed above? maybe....maybe not. i guess ill never know. i tried a few X360 games and one needed an update and it was instantly done.
BTW if you read my orig post,Crysis2 after trying 7 times DL'd & installed an update...but when i went to play yesterday it DL'd the update that i think it was trying to get when i had all these issues.:hairpull:
there is no clear cut direction/help online other than trying to change all the DNS #'s (im not doing that) or sending the PS3 in for repair (definitely not doing that!)
so i guess this is a touch and go issue depending on what my router & PS3 want to do on a daily basis.
