Problems with private messages

I'm trying to send a private message to another member, but it keeps getting directed to a different user that has the same name, except for a lower case first letter. I've clicked on the intended recipients name to view his profile, selected the private message option, sent the message, but after checking it has been sent to someone else. Any help is appreciated.
