In the most idiotic EU ruling the 140 year old British law that prisoners cannot vote has been overturned by European Court of Human Rights ruling that the present ban was unlawful.
Prisoners were originally denied the right to vote while serving a sentence under the 1870 Forfeiture Act and the ban was retained in the Representation of the People Act of 1983
People are mostly in prison for infringing someone elses human rights by breaking the law. It seems perfectly sensible that until they have their human rights limited.
