Porn search blocked in all search engines

Hi!

I know there is an option (on by default) to filter explicit results, but even with it turned off, some searches give bland/vanilla results.

For example, I searched "petite anal" because among the things I like is when the man is taller and stronger than the woman, like very muscular man and very yoga-style woman, but no porn showed, I only got random pics of young girls/babies in dress or women showing their booty (all dressed up).

I understand 100% the need to stop some disturbing/illegal things to show in search results, but come on, "petite" only means "a woman that is thin and not tall". Unless I am mistaken, because english is not my mother tongue.

Do you experience the same issue? What would allow me to view some nice porn pics of actual women that are "petite"? Right now, when I am in "turned on" mood, I really don't want to see children pics FFS, this ban of porn results is such a turn-off! Maybe they plan to gradually ban online porn entirely ultimately...

Sure I can (and will ^^) look for other terms like "huge tits" or something, but still... Their filter is not perfect yet.

Have a good day!

Switzerland 🤷‍♂️ I may try with a VPN, that's not a bad idea! But I won't get through all that trouble just for one keyword, I have so many others that turn me on, I think I won't bother.

You don't experience that issue?

If Switzerland is so repressed, then why is it included as a choice on most VPN's?

Maybe it's the search engine you're using. Which one is that?

And, what browser are you using? Maybe the browser has some type of safe search built in.

I tried with Chrome, and with several search engines: Bing (which is usually censoring less stuff than Google if I'm not mistaken), Google, DuckDuckGo, and a few others I don't remember the names. I tried several.

I don't know if it's the country that is applying this censorship, I have yet to try with a VPN, but I never use one so I have to set one up for testing.

Are you having good results on your end with this keyword, or just vanilla pics?

Although I have Chrome, I despise it. Anyhow, I tried your search term (using Google) and got the same result in Firefox and Chrome - really hard porn.

You could try removing Chrome and re-installing, or use another browser.

If you go to another browser, Firefox or Waterfox would be my first choices. If you're attached to Chrome, I'd switch to a different browser that uses the Chrome engine. Vivaldi or Opera are the only ones I like(ish), or an un-googled version of Chromium.

As for a VPN, the latest version of Firefox is supposed to have a VPN built in, but I don't know anything about that. I use a Firefox extension called Hoxx VPN Proxy.

Thank you Connor for this feedback. It seems it might indeed be a restriction from Switzerland then! Bah, it doesn't matter much, I still have the other keywords like "huge tits", "deepthroat", etc. ^^

Thank you again (I use Chrome for work, being a web dev and all, but I should indeed switch to another browser for non-work)

I noticed my Hoxx VPN now only has 3 country options (they want me to upgrade to a paid version), so I installed a new one, Windscribe and tried searching with Switzerland addresses. There was no change on my results.

It may be possible that your ISP is the reason.

It may very well be the case too! Nice catch indeed! I prefer too much filtering than not enough anyway, so it doesn't bother me that much.

I will try from another internet connection some time later when I have the opportunity, just for the sake of curiosity.

Thank you Connor!

Best,

Juste a quick follow-up: out of curiosity, I just tried with:
- a different browser
- a different internet provider (but same country) (I yet have to go abroad to test in a different country)
- a different search engine
- a VPN (I did set one up with a location in the USA)

Nothing works. I still get the same vanilla results.

I think the issue is that "something" (browser / country / provider / searchengine) reads my query in French, whereas it should be in English. Indeed, "petite" in French both means "small" and "young", and that's this second part that gets me (fortunately though) vanilla results.

Some proof of that, is that I get suggestions as I type, and all suggestions are in French, which I do not want.

Indeed, being in computer science, everything on my computer is configured in English: Windows OS, browser's "accept-language", you name it. Not a damn thing on my computer is in French because you don't get many results in French, it's best to stick to English (except for country-based specific queries, obviously). Even Steam is configured in English only. I never play translated games.

Therefore, I really do not understand why:
- I get suggestions (as I type) in French (I get the exact same suggestions with duckduckgo, bing, google...) even though I configured everything (both computer/smartphone and search engine) to be in English
- the search results reflect this language-issue thing, and are based on French (though when I type "deepthroat" or "huge tits" I get explicit results)

In any case, this might be a discussion better suited for a technology-centric forum, I won't bother you more with this :) thank you all for reading/replying anyway!

EDIT: when trying a first search containing only English words, and then trying "petite anal" in the same session, the browser (or whatever) seems to finally understand that I am actually typing in English, and gives me the explicit results... However, it only happened ONCE, and on mobile, because I tried to reproduce this behavior on PC and it failed miserably. I guess there is a confusion browser-side (or country-side or whatever) that thinks I am writing in French when I'm not, even with a VPN and everything configured in English. I still have to find a reliable way to bypass this "smart language detection" that is not that smart after all.

I had this same issue once before. It took me a while, but finally realized that it was my VPN. The search engine was reading my IP address and using the native language of the country of origin for that IP address. So, I started using countries where the official language was English, or countries where English was included with that location.

Pornography in Switzerland is defined by the Article 197 of the Swiss criminal code. The first alinea states that «Any person who offers, shows, passes on or makes accessible to a person who is under the age of 16 pornographic documents, sound or visual recordings, depictions or other articles of a similar nature or pornographic representations, or broadcasts any of the same on radio or television is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.» Furthermore, it is illegal to produce, import, store, market, advertise, exhibit, offer, show, pass on or make accessible pornography that depicts sexual acts involving children (under 16 years old) or animals, human excrement, or acts of violence, called "hard pornography".

Since July 2014,[47] human excrement and urine are not considered being "hard pornography" anymore. Until June 2014, actors aged 16 and above could participate in a pornography production; however, since July 2014, if a person "looks" or is under 18 years of age, the material is considered as pedo-pornography. This is due to the Swiss ratification of the Lanzarote Convention.

The age of viewing pornography stays fixed at 16 years old (Art. 197 al. 1 of the Swiss criminal code).

The same materials cited above are nevertheless not regarded as pornographic if they have a cultural or scientific value that justifies their protection by law.[48]
