I went with Matt Groening because of The Simpsons (and Futurama). Simpsons was (and still is) HUGE. I wonder if Family Guy is going to top the 20+ Simpsons' seasons.

McFarlane has an impressive record too, but I find his humor a little too aggressive. Hey, that's just me!

But I'm a huge Beavis and Butthead fan, and I'm really glad they're coming back this summer. King of the Hill is smart, but I understand why people don't like it. I still watch the reruns and find it hilarious! So I admire Mike Judge for being able to create such different types of shows: the idiotic Beavis and Butthead and the witty King of the Hill, for example.

But once again, I voted for Groening because of the impact The Simpsons had on popular culture over the last 20 years.

Great thread though.

Matt and Trey by a mile. They're the only ones on the list who are truly daring.

Matt Groening is great and probably the most genuinely clever out of the bunch.

Seth McFarlane, not a fan.

I'm more a fan of Mike Judge as a live-action film maker than as an animator. Both Office Space and Idiocracy were brilliant. Haven't seen Extract yet but as of 90 seconds ago it's at the top of my Netflix queue.

Still...out of the bunch, Matt and Trey get the most respect from me.

My Penis Is Dancing!
Guys named Matt.
Groening gets it first - Life in Hell was very big during my college days.
Trey and Matt come in a very close second on South Park alone.
Judge is a bit behind because of his live action and Bevis and Butthead. I found King of the Hill to be almost completely unwatchable.
Seth seems to be now just churning out the stuff.

Matt Groening wins easily.

Seth McFarlane is second, but I say that because he's proven to be more versatile than the others with his credits of Johnny Bravo and Dexters Laboratory.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone would come in a distant third. IMO, South Park is the only worthwhile project they've done, but even that has become suspect. The early years of South Park were some of the greatest comedic television ever made, but the last few years of the series have been horrible. It's gotten so bad that I find myself hoping Comedy Central will just cancel the show.

I went with Matt Groening. I love The Simpsons and Futurama more than nearly any other show on television. Been disappointed with new Simpsons, same with Futurama. But the early years are just totally, epic and brilliant. To be fair, there is really no one on that list I don't like though. With some they have projects I like more than others, but the is the same even for Matt Groening. Was surprised to see that Seth MacFarlane did Dexter's Lab and Cow and Chicken. I love both those shows and did not know that bit of info. The things we know I guess.

Being that the good Simpsons (the ones from the 90s) were good because of Conan O'Brien and not Groening, that McFarlene just panders to the lowest common denominator with gags that require literally no talent to write and absolutely zero plot and that Judge showed how little he must have had to do with B & B being good by leaving and producing a show that had 13 seasons without having a single funny moment or creating 1 good or even moderately likable character, I'll have to go with the ones that actually have everything to do with their work being funny. Matt and Trey can write, act, produce, direct, etc... while the other 3 cannot do anything except rely on their former glory and pander to the idiotic masses.

I can understand The Simpsons reference. Conan was amazing for that show. Though it is a relative thing.
