From what I've heard, everyone read it for the articles only, right? :angel1:

Re: Playboy will stop featuring photos of buck ass nekkid women in the print edition

Oh well, they are finished. Most print magazines are hurting because of the Internet. I like some of their pics but a lot of them are overly photoshopped

The Dutch version of Playboy announced today that they don't care what the US version does and will continue featuring naked women. :bounce:

If you're looking at porn on the internet, are you really going to notice? I haven't paid for a porn magazine (or any porn) since 1999 and even before then, Playboy was not my mainstream magazine of choice.

The articles and short stories suck. The girls all look the same. They stopped being a decent magazine about 15 years ago when they tried to compete with Maxim. Celebrities of worth stopped posing for them because their photography is bland and hasn't been cutting edge for 40 years. As for the nudity, it's passe. I can get online and find more interesting looking women, better reading, that's cheaper than the $7-$8 cover price. They shot themselves in the foot by not being ahead of the game - oh and selling out to Manwin and losing all form of a soul.

Funny. Hefner started at Esquire. Looks like that's where the "empire" is going to finish.

the "published magazine" does not matter. No one buys magazines for porn now a days.

Yeah, I dont understand what the big deal is. The way people are acting, you would think that playboyplus.com was ending nudes. I actually think this could turn out to be a good strategy. I think what they are doing is creating a more demure, innocent vibe with their models so that people will be more excited to see them nude on playboyplus . Keep in mind that since it wont be showing nudes anymore, kids under 18 should be able to purchase it. I remember when I was young reading muscle magazines and looking at the fitness models in those magazines. I was on cloud 9 when I went online and discovered that some of them actually posed nude on the internet.

Playboy has been dead for years, the thing was about playboy was the artistic quality of the photography.
when photography went digital, artistry pretty much died along with film.
Now some moron who picks up a camera and Photoshop thinks they are a photographer.
I think the reason all the models look the same is because the people doing the shoots would freak if they had to deal with different subjects, styles and settings.
It became a nude factory where models fit in a mold and processed.
Why bother with risqué photos, don't even know why they bother with still having new models.
Just find a girl who looks about the average plastic doll - unspecific nationality, and CGI her.
Done.
most of my favorite nude models today are independent, sell themselves on their own websites, and also have some flesh on them and don't starve themselves trying to look like Lizzie Velasquez.

Well, IM going to have to disagree with you about digital. Without it I wouldnt have access to so many great pics. If you want to see really bad photography, go to some hardcore porn sites. BUt I do believe Social media has ruined modeling, especially fitness modeling. Every girl with big tits and a toothpick body now thinks she is a fitness model. Saving photos on twitter and instagram and facebook is a nightmare.

While I can understand their concern with the amount of sales going down, just like it has for pretty much all physical magazines these days, I don't see how their strategy is going to work to fix that. They are going away from the predominate factor they are known for, what made them famous, and for which people still buy they magazines. I wouldn't be surprised if they go from bad sales to horrible sales as I see nothing that going to bring people back in. If anything they now face even more competition as there are a lot of places to buy magazines provocative non-nude photots. Maybe they are hoping the newness factor of the change helps them out short term from the publicity of it.

There IS something Playboy could do. They could go back to their roots. They could go back to what got them to the top back when. They could get into a DeLorean and speed on Forward into the Past ... into the days, the glory years of The BUSH! YES! :yesyes: :drool2: They'd have a pretty good niche covered with that. :coolthumb:

Playboy's been plagued by bad management since the eighties. Hefner has been battling them ever since and they've slowly wore him down to this pathetic fizzle. They could have remained relevant if they developed a better more affordable website. However it was just a nightmare to navigate. Too centered around the models, no access to articles or fiction ( which up to about 2005 were still quality ). The final photo spreads were always over processed starting in the nineties on, with then air brushing ; now photo shopping. Every one became numb with the splinter sites, cyber girls, playboy plus, so on and so on. Going on the public market was also a huge mistake, he learned when he took the company private again. At that point he should have cleaned house.

If they started a website that was based on the magazine, easy to navigate, less processed photos, charged an affordable price ( let's face it they got fucking greedy to please share holders, when playboy was on the public market ) and didn't even bother with the splinter sites they'd remain profitable. Maybe not like every one hoped, but it would still be profitable.

Now they're putting all their eggs in one basket hoping that licensing the logo will keep the company afloat. Ha! More bad management decisions! Twenty years from now Playboy will be a distant memory.

It's not like Playboy is amazing anyway.
Pictures are amongst the most fake I've ever seen and it's overall really far from the celebrity of the brand makes think it is
