What do you guys think of Kai? I like it better than the original series because they cut out all the filler so you don't have to watch the guys power up for 3 full episodes until they fight. And they redubbed the whole thing so the script isn't dumbed down for the kids anymore. Gohan's new voice takes some getting used to but I think all the new voices fit the characters better, especially with the improved writing.
The uncut version is the shit! It sucks that they changed the soundtrack after part 4 though. I had preordered part 5 so I could see Trunks kill Frieza and King Cold uncut. But then they changed the original soundtrack back to the soundtrack used on the Japanese dub in the 90's so I cancelled it and got part 4 instead.
I like the Kai version, it's surprising how much it decreases the total number of episodes. The filler was pretty ridiculous. I assume this is the original soundtrack you're talking about
I like the music too, but lol it takes a minute for trunks to slash him and another minute for Frieza to come apart. The Japanese soundtrack is alright but it lacks the dramatic tone. My favorite from the funi version is the Ginyu Force theme.
Btw what do you think of Frieza's voice in Kai? I prefer it. I have no idea why he was given a female voice in the uncut version.

No thats the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack from the original Funimation dub. I like that one too. And The Ginyu Force Theme is one of my favorites from Faulconer's soundtrack too. I have lots of other favorites from that soundtrack as well. But I really like the soundtrack made originally for Kai. The soundtrack for the Android/Cell saga had tracks that plagiarized tracks from Terminator Salvation and Avatar. So the composer was fired, part 5 of Kai was delayed, and his soundtrack was replaced with the soundtrack used in the original Japanese dub back in the early 1990's. Its a shame because the soundtrack in Kai did a really good job of making certain scenes more intense, and certain scenes more emotional. And now that the old soundtrack is being used, Kai doesn't feel like a new show anymore. Actually, because of the style of the music, it feels old. But hey, at least the writing and voice acting is still superior in Kai.
I really like Frieza's new voice. But its not just the voice that makes Frieza better in Kai, its the writing. His lines are now what you'd expect from someone who has spent their whole life ruling the universe. Before he just sounded like a bully. Check this out:
