Letter to feds questions tactics; sheriff calls him 'disconnected'

In the **** of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office crackdowns on ******* immigrants throughout the Valley, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon is calling on the FBI to investigate whether Sheriff Joe Arpaio has ******** any civil-rights laws.

In an April 4 letter to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Gordon asked the Justice Department's civil-rights division and the FBI to probe what Gordon calls a "pattern and practice of conduct that includes discriminatory harassment, improper stops, searches and arrests."

Justice Department officials promised to review Gordon's letter but declined further comment.

Sheriff Arpaio has let publicity swell his head. This loser is creating a climate of totalitarianism.

He is out of control and should be removed from his position. I hope the FBI does something about him.

It's interesting that Arpaio's tactics seem to be praised by the feds and vilified by the mayor. I personally like the idea of checking immigration status at traffic stops. I wish they had that around here. I've got nothing to hide.
