First, I am not a huge Manning fan. He is a fantastic QB and may be the best regular season QB ever. I simply don't root for him. His comeback from a career-threatening neck injury is courageous and has been amazing. That said, how the hell is he the Sportsman of the Year? Was the year so bland a comeback is worthy of this prestigious award? It seems more like lifetime achievement recognition instead of a year's work. I am interested to read other's opinions on this. LeBron James had a phenomenal year, David "Big Papi" Ortiz was the leader of a team that wasn't expected by most to win it all and was instrumental in the city of Boston bouncing back from the marathon bombing. Winning a championship should not be a requirement, but it helps an athlete's other platforms receive publicity. Your thoughts?
