Squally, you're remembering it wrong. The thread got started, then it bottomed out. For the better part of two weeks there wasn't a mention of him. He came back on his own.

Nickels worth of advice: Don't try to explain or understand Sampon. The guy is so far out of reality that there is no explanation. I truly believe that he doesn't experience consciousness the way you and I and everyone else understands it. I deal with this kind of disorder in gambling circles all the time, to include the late, great Stu Unger. Sammwich doesn't need the rest of the world to rationalize his actions. He does it all by himself. A few months ago he made up this whole rant all by himself about something I never said or referred too (something involving shotguns, I'm not going to look it up). He made it all up just so he could argue with me over something I never said. That's when I finally realized what we're dealing with. And then, a couple weeks ago he starts a thread about something I never said. I could be embarrassed for him but, fuck it, he's a douche, so screw him.

In any event, reality needs not apply. Reply to him and you're, "pounding keyboards", "taking his bait", getting "hook, line and sinkered", etc. Don't reply to him and he'll spin it as people being afraid of him or agreeing with his bullshit. It's a no-win situation. And realizing that, as Calvin once told Hobbes, "When life hands me lemons....I'm winging them right back and adding a few lemons of my own."

When a poster starts to disrupt the community, it's time to remove that poster from the board. This is standard forum etiquette on all forums I've posted on, including this one, until what, a year or so ago. It's the pattern of behavior that's offensive, not one or two isolated incidents. Enough should be enough, but apparently this pushes traffic. I kinda hope Vodka goes through on his threat and starts flooding the boards. Imagine if everyone did it. Maybe then the admins would get off their nuts and do something about it.

When was the last time you saw anything indicative that the mods or admins on this board give a toss about harmony or quality of the content therein?

The board rules have been trimmed down to the point where pretty much anything bar legally implicating material is allowed. Dupe accounts, trolls left and right, no one cares. We have half a dozen moderators that exist to approve pictures in the ID threads. Reported posts go ignored for days, hell when challenged over the cheating in the Miss Freeones bullshit, tell me what part of that explanation to the members was satisfactory? (I didn't care about the MF content then, nor do I now, I'm using it as an example.)

Sam will roam, he will troll, he will spam the board with his bullshit and this will go unchallenged by anyone with the power to do anything about it.

And this is more or less true. I made a few posts in that thread I believe the day he left (mostly just to make fun of Will anyway), then I dropped it because, really, I didn't care.

Of course, sadly Sam is worse now that he's back. He seems more like Will than he used to. Hell, part of me is wondering whether he handed his account over to the Worm. While it was rare, occasionally Sam used to actually try to argue something if you disagreed with him. Now it's all copy/pasta, and pictures.
